It's funny how some people here have built up PBF like he's the best fighter ever

We can safely say those people don't know much about boxing.

Floyd looked to be on the way, but his career wasn't long enough, and he didn't fight enough great fighters. The only things that can be considered "great" about Floyd are his mouth and his ego.

Not the best fighter ever but to say he's not an all-time great is foolish.

The same happens any time a fast flashy guy is at the top of the game. it was the same for RJJ and for Mosely before him.

The difference between Mosley and FLoyd is that unlike Floyd, Mosley dared to be great against the best fighters. There is no shame in Mosley losing against Forrest and Wright (twice each).

That sorta thing happens when an undefeated fighter reaches the top, it gives him an aura of invincibility that some people just can't picture him losing.

    You gotta admit though...

he has to be one of the most skilled fighters of all time...
as far as being well rounded

I disagree. I think that Floyd is held to a higher standard than most guys and therefore people will never be satisifed with who he fights. When you really get down to it the only guy that I would have liked to see him fight, that a fight could be made and he didn't do it is Cotto and that's assuming that he doesn't come back out of retirement to make the fight.

Floyd Mayweather was a great talent but he never chased the best fights around to sufficiently test himself to be classed as one of the greatest ever.

However, I think RJJ should be classed as one, as should Pernell Whitaker- though I agree Mosley definitely should not. I rank Mayweather above Mosley but behind RJJ and Whitaker.

RJJ beat two ATGs in Toney and Hopkins when they were all young and hungry- beat both convincingly. PBF cannot claim to have beaten one. And when RJJ was at his peak he was just a superior fighter to PBF, he KO'd more decent opposition and had a crowning achievement in creating history by beating John Ruiz for heavyweight title despite considerable size and weight disadvantage.

Mayweather is one of the best fighters of our age, but I don't think he should go down in history as an elite fighter of all-time.

The 130 pound version of him, I will agree. Nowadays he's still one of the most technically skilled, just not nearly as effective.

he is held to higher standards because he talks so much...

the fact that calls him self the greatest gets boxing minds angry...so if he wasnt doing things that clearly show that hes the greatest . nobody will ever be satisfied..

and he definitely chased some of the best

requested cotto early but cotto's team said he wasnt ready yet
requested shane & costa and they went in different directions

if he beat an early cotto and shane and costa in their primes...

people would just be bitchin about margarito and paul williams...

especially cause cotto wouldnt even be in the welterweight mix

Im a Limey and i don't mind him ****ing up Hatton. He was just to good for Hatton which most of us knew anyway.

My problem is that the higher up in weight he went the less challenge's he would take. Why make Hatton fight at 147, when we all knew he couldn't fight at that weight, instead of fighting the top 147 guys like Cotto, Margo and Williams? He also never fought Tszyu.

i think the 145 version of floyd is the same as the 130 pound version

the 145 version of floyd is just a little more catious then the 130 pound

the 130 pound is very catious
the 145 poudn is very very very catious

because of this we dont get to see his offensive effectiveness as often..
his defense is just as sound as it was before ... i think we can all agree to that. i think haha
