As one of Haye's most vocal and biggest supporters, I have to say that I have been nothing but disappointed with the Hayemaker in more recent times. First off even if the fight with Wladimir comes off in June, Haye will have only fought twice in 15 months by that time. This is hardly the way to shake up the heavyweight scene. Inactive or part time fighters don't become champions let alone clean up a division. Secondly, I'm seeing a pattern with Haye that started the second he KO'd Enzo Mac. Haye takes several months off for such a young and supposedly "hungry" fighter. Haye announces opponent Haye and Co. announces that opponent has backed out of fight due to fear, greed, fight location, etc, etc. Several weeks or months pass and then Haye and Co. then announce another opponent has been found. A few more weeks pass and it is announced that opponent has backed out for the same or similar reasons Haye's previous opponent did. A few more weeks pass and Haye announces that despite troubles in negotiations that the fight is very close to being made. Another month passes and it is then announced that once more Haye's opponent has either backed out for some mysterious reason or that they are asking for to much money. Haye then finally gets a fight and then resumes inactivity. All this "the fight is on, the fight is off" business is ridiculous and this pattern seems to repeat itself between each of his fights. I believe that Haye is a fantastic boxer and an exciting one at that but the trouble is he doesn't' ever fight anymore. Haye's a big name but only in the hardcore circles of boxing fans and only because of his loud personality, which I happen to like by the way. The trouble is all this talk has produced only one fight at heavyweight which does little to paint Haye in a positive or threatening light. A fighter with aspirations such as Haye claims to have should be fighting as often as possible. I know that Haye claims that he's not interested in a padded record and I would normally agree with that philosophy however you can't make a name for yourself or maintain a fan base by fighting so infrequently. I'm starting to get the feeling that Haye is indeed being greedy and often asks for fight terms that are unrealistic. Sure he was the undisputed Cruiserweight Champion, but now he's merely a contender in the heavyweight division with just one fight under his belt. Despite his Cruiserweight and heavyweight success thus far he's done nothing to build on the momentum he created. He's said in the past that he wants to be the most exciting thing in boxing since a prime Tyson, but Tyson unlike Haye, in his prime, was beating guys up on a regular basis and fought as often as he could. As a fan I want to see Haye stop talking and start fighting. If he's lucky enough to have Wlad interested in a fight...take the fight under any reasonable terms that Wladimir sets. Love him or hate him, Klitschko is the heavyweight champion of the world and he, not Haye, should be setting the terms for the fight. If the Hayemaker is truley hungry for the championship and heavyweight domination he needs to take the fight and not try and take more than he feels he's entitled too. In fact I don't believe Haye's entitled to anything when negotiating with Wladimir. Klitschko is the bigger name and the champion and if Haye really wants the fight he'd take it knowing that he'd be able to set terms in future fights should he win that fight. It's obvious that all the talking Haye's done and still doing might not secure him a fight with the champ. If I were Haye and meant the things I had said over the past year or so, I would be taking fights with just about anyone in the division to make as much noise as possible by plowing through other contenders and becoming the mandatory challenger. I'd like to hear from other Haye supporters on this. What do you make of all this back and forth nonesense? Am I the only one whose tired of it? :bbb
Seems like he's trying to savor every moment he can because Wlad is going to KO him and i think he knows it.
That is what I cant help but to think. As hype and anxious as he was to get this fight i would of thought he would jump all over it once it came his way
If this fight doesn't get done Haye will look like an idoit. You can't follow someone around and pester them for a fight and when the chance comes you get you whine about not getting enough money.
Rahman was a late replacement. Wlad should not get any **** for fighting him. He kept the fight date. Not his fault Pov got hurt. He will fight him soon.
Because he has only recently stepped up to heavyweight for good he will be changing a lot of things which will require more time which is why he is not as active. When he knocks out wlad he will be a lot more active, That's for sure.
Shane- i totally agree. I am not a Wlad fan. I hope Haye is able to beat him. However, I think Wlad is a victim of a weak HW divsion. He doesn't do himself any favors with his safety first style, but he beats everyone there is and just because other heavys are also boring or out of shape it seems he wears the jacket for the garbage divsion because he is on top. If he was a contender in a good HW divsion he would get more credit then being the best in a weak divsion. That seems unfair to me.
Haye is very lucky that Wlad is even entertaining the idea of giving him a shot. He's had two fights at heavyweight and achieved zilch in the division. He's talked his way into a fight with the number one heavyweight and now he and his manager want all the money from english tv rights? If I was Wlad I would simply tell Haye to get real and start looking for another opponent. From what we've heard in the press about Haye and his manger (idiotic demands, poor treatment of fighters, not paying people etc), it seems that Hayemaker promotions is very shoddy and unprofessional. Boxing is a serious business, I'm not Wlads biggest fan but a champion like him does not need to waste his time with these couple of clowns (Booth and Haye). About time they got their head out of la la land and came up with something realistic. Keeping all the money from english tv rights is a joke, I would laugh and walk out of the meeting. Haye needs Wlad a lot more than vice versa. He's trying to cash in knowing that any bum could ruin his plans if they hit him cleanly. I enjoy watching him fight, its all action. Outside the ring its a different story.
You are all falling for the BS. There is plenty of time for them to sign the contracts and plenty of time to get the fan's pumped up and pissed. All this is just creating more hype.
I dunno, I don't see many exciting fights out there in that division. I would love to see Wlad v Haye if it happens though. Although Haye is defo not one of my fave fighters, he is still great to watch because he takes risks, has power and a questionable chin. Would be an interesting fight.
All in all, Haye and his manager are obviously the men to blame. These guys lost contact to reality and think being a british hype job brings you on the same level of the recognized HW champ with 50+ fights against the best opposition available. Hell Haye will be out of the game if he doesnt take that chance. Klitschko has nothing to lose. If he doesnt fight Haye, Haye will getting KO´ed by somebody else and nobody ever wanted Klitschko-Haye. Haye needs Klitschko much more than vice-versa. Klitschko-Arreola is a bigger fight in the US or at least equal than/with Klitschko-Haye. In the US and Germany, where the big money is, Haye is nothing but another challenger.
Hype job's don't become Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion of the World with an almost 100% KO percentage, nuthugger! atsch I really hope Haye KO's Wlad because this place will be hilarious with alll the nuthuggers BS. Your excuses will be legendary.
