This is coming from someone who considers themselves a Pacquiao fan, not a Mayweather fan, but most importantly...a boxing fan.

To those who are minimizing Floyd Mayweather Jr's achievement of dominating Shane Mosley in the fashion that he did....

Yes, most everyone in boxing with a half of a brain would have put money on Mayweather if it came down to it. Those of us who were rooting for Mosley knew that odds were already against him due to factors such as aging, ring layoff, and style.

Still, you must realize how ridiculous you look downplaying his domination.

Most of you are saying that he looked shot, old, and finished in the fight with Mayweather. Yet, I argue, is this not the same Mosley that lost a close decision to Cotto? Dominated and utterly destroyed the previously unbeatable Margarito?

The real question is not how bad Mosley looked against Mayweather, because any true boxing fan knows sometimes a fighter meets a person or people that is stylistically all wrong for them who makes them look bad. We saw this with Adamek/Arreola, Dirrell/Abraham, and Hopkins/Pavlik. I am not even comparing Mosley to Arreola, Abraham, or Pavlik, but the fact is these are young fighters who were made to look old by an opponent who was stylistically BAD for them and/or was above them in talent & natural ability. Do you realize Mosley threw MORE punches in his fight with Mayweather than he did in his first fight with Forrest? By this logic...Mosley looked old and shot in his first fight with Forrest.

So...was Abraham shot when he fought Dirrell? Don't be naive.

The real question is this: How well would Mosley fair again in a rematch with Cotto or Margarito. If he looks like garbage against them in a rematch, then I'd say your argument was valid.

Until such a rematch occurs, please be real boxing fans and show some respect to the winner of the match and take it for what it appears to be: A boxer who met another boxer who was stylistically bad for them and/or was above them in skill who ultimately made them look "old", "shot", "poor".

it's fine to say he is old, he is.

Shot? Hard to say, but being gassed in 4 rounds is the sign of aging.

I agree. If he were coming off a streak of equally unfavorable performances in his previous fights, then an argument could be made. But the Margarito KO was perhaps the second biggest and one of the more vicious wins of his career. Mosley is a great fighter but a flawed fighter. Mayweather simply took advantage of those flaws.

Being shot is USUALLY an effect of being old. You cannot disregard the fact that the last time we saw his physical condition was more than a year ago. And the probability that he was on PEDs then and not now. Saying it is ignorant is you being ignorant of the facts.

Not to take anything away from Floyd. He just made it a lot obvious.

Could be but it happens when you are very tense in the ring bc things dont go your way and you just cant relax so u end-up using much more energy.

    That is highly likely too.

But being almost 40 is what it is.
You can't expect to be a 30 year old prime guy in there.

Guys act like they've never watched a Floyd fight before. They are all shot.

Lately everyone looks old and shot against Mayweather, Pacquiao too.

I'd like to see Mosley fight again before coming to any sort of conclusion.

I mentioned all those factors(except PEDs) in my original post. Point is, it is impossible to say whether or not he is just "shot" based on his fight with Mayweather since we have absolutely no idea if this is the Shane that fought Cotto and Margarito.

If this in fact WAS the same Shane who would have performed the exact same way against Cotto & Margarito, then people need to stop blaming the dominating performance purely on him being "shot". It would obviously be exterior factors.

Since he came back he has fought a 36 and 38 year old.

Not that they weren't great fighters, but they are up there.

I saw him looking "old" when he struggled with Mayorga. Never the same ever since.

True! I thought about it for a minute and even in the 2nd fight against Forrest he was quite tight but he wasnt puffing in there. Natural thing I guess

Frazier was shot when foreman beat him.

I hope mosley fights at least 1 more time with a top welterweight to see if he was "shot" or floyd just dominated.
