When I saw Camacho Blitzkrieg Tough as nails Bazooka Limon and win his 1st world Championship at Jr.lightweight I thought he would go on to ATG, and maybe the GOAT! He looked that good against the rough and awkward Limon. And prior to that he beat Paul, Rojas Coverson, and Montes all up and comers and in the primes of their careers and barely losing a rd to them.
Do not kid yourself ,Camacho Sr. Had the goods as far as physical talent and skills. But after getting clipped by Rosario in a fight he won handedly he was never the same. ( But this is also the time the drug rumors started) Camacho SHOULD have been so much more than what he ended up being.

Probably. Chavez still walls him down and punishes him. Camacho couldn't hurt Chavez even if he was allowed to high kick.

I don't know what happened to Hector. He was a possible great. He wanted to be a showman more than anything else, and when he had that tough fight it shook him. And he started to box and move and put less offense. Somehow fighting lesser guys he got 80 or more fights.

I for one, have nothing but respect and admiration for Hector Macho Camacho. I remember from the early 80's that flashy whirlwind...that spectacular sensation...that Puerto Rican tornado, that was sp fast, both of hand and foot...so skilled and deadly, that included as a part of his schtick, an array of dazzling ring costumes and dance moves that even got my wife's attention, lol...and I certainly was a fan...but that sensation disappeared from sight after that Rosario match....never to return again...replaced by a less spectacular, less lethal, "safety first" version...a "Macho Lite" if you will. Hector has been a profound disappointment to many, and not just me...but...there was nothing at all disappointlng or second rate about his courage...the courage he displayed in that public flogging he went through vs Chavez Sr.. In that fight...that 12 round torture session, Hector made up for, he redeemed himself... for every bit of the childishness, the pre-fight dancing, the silliness, the glittering displays of all his in-the-ring garbs, all the posturing and other antics...and all the excess caution he bored us all with since the Rosario turning point. Camacho displayed enough courage, old fashioned manliness,...the

He also displayed a chin , and a heart, that of all the fighters in boxing past and present would/should be envious of IMHO. He proved that he was far more than silly ring costumes, and cheap, glittering flashiness. He proved, more so than any victory, that he was indeed the

A post script to add...I believe that if he had not been transformed as he was by that Rosario fight,...that he would have indeed beaten Julio Cesar Chavez...and he would have won with room to spare. The Macho Man was, after all, a superior fighter to Meldrick Taylor, as all of you should know.

Is there any more proof needed that The Macho Man was a great, great talent...a great fighter..and it's almost scary to say, but he could have been even greater!! Great music here..I agree...case closed!!

For prople who think prime Camacho beats Chavez, well how come prime Camacho was very nearly stopped by Rosario (and lost to him on my card) who Chavez made absolute minsemeat out of?

Such fast hands and feet at 130. Truly gifted. He was entertaining and I always made it a point to watch his fights.

I agree, after Rosario he was a different fighter though. I also think his lifestyle also caught up with him.

Maybe that was a younger, fresher version of Rosario...with less wear and tear on him...that Camacho met.

Styles make fights...didn't George Foreman destroy Ken Norton and Joe Frazier? Did not Muhammad Ali have all the trouble in the world with both these same men? By your logic, then Foreman should have beaten Ali, right?

How come Chavez almost lost to Laporte?
Styles make fights and Rosario STILL lost to Camacho.
17 months is a lifetime in the fight game.
How come JCC couldnt even drop Ramirez yet Camacho did?
    Camacho had too
fast of feet to allow JCC to ever pin him.
Howard Davis was fast yet when he fought Camacho he was made to look slow.
All that crap about Chavez vs Taylor- Chavez was LOSING that fight by miles. If not for Taylor's horrible corner JCC would have had a loss.
Whitaker beat the crap out of Chavez and got a draw.
    Randall got jobbed as well.
Rosario win was great. But lets not forget that Rameriz stopped Rosario in 4.
