It is often said that when one door closes – another one opens. I see this happening in the UK boxing scene at the moment ….. Let me explain. Following Ricky Hatton’s defeat at the weekend, the Hitman’s career is effectively over. And what a great career it has been. OK, he may well agree to fight Tim Bradley, Nate Campbell or Kendall Holt in Manchester as a final swansong – but that will be it. What then ….. There will be a hole left in the UK boxing scene when Ricky goes, and I can see no one better but another Manchester star to fill that void – “Mr Excitement” himself Jamie Moore. This content is protected Already European Champion, and gunning for world honours, Jamie Moore is already a massive name within the UK. His style would be lapped up by the Americans too, and the future can only be bright for Mooresy – who has more than earned his place at the table. Having known Jamie for a number of years I can also vouch for him as being one of the most genuine guys in the sport today. The red side of Manchester already adore him, and I’m sure that the blue side will be equally captured if they aren’t already! It is my view that the rest of the country will follow suit, and the future can only be bright – for Manchester, the UK and boxing itself. Jamie has been involved in many of the UK’s “Fight Of The Year” awards over recent years, with his trilogy of fights against Jones and also his barnstormer of a battle against Macklin being noted of some of the most impressive even witnessed in a British ring. Jamie’s last two performances have been equally impressive, with his dismantling of former champ Michel Piccirillo to claim the EBU title a true joy to watch. Las Vegas may well have dismantled another UK boxing star last weekend– but Jamie is Moore than ready to make amends. It's Mooresy Time!
Let's hope so. He's definitely got the ability he just needs the opportunity. I'd back him for a world title.
He looks very good lately. Very strong and more polished. Definitely looks good enough to challenge for world honours, I'm certainly a fan. He needs to strike now while the iron is hot.
My friend saw him for the first time on Sat and now supports him. You give good performances and the fans will support you. Moore goes to work straight away and I love that.
Got to disagree with "Jamie Moore is already a massive name within the UK" unless u mean purely in boxing circles. What he needs is some fights on domestic TV to get real exposure and someone the TV companys can spin as being a really good fighter simelar to when Khan V Barrera (Moore would need a better quality of figher at this stage but hopefully u get my point) Moore looks ace everytime he steps in the ring at the moment seek and destroy - hopefully a world shot isnt too far away we need some people to step up now the fat lady is warming up for hatton
Hope he does great! More Vegas trips to follow a true warrior would be welcomed. Not sure I can back a United fan with the same verve though...
