I agree with this. Haye had no belt to neg. with previously.

He could have just fought 2 top 10 HWs and done it by now.

Povetkin is a good example of how to earn a title shot.

Whoa-whoa, hold a phone. You mean, like, one needs to fight in order to earn a shot for the title? Yoo are so wrong, dude. Fighting is not for real men. Trash talking is a way to go!

This makes no sense at all. It's by no means a lose-lose situation.

    1) Valuev is the third biggest draw in the HW division, like it or not.
    2) Valuev should be much easier to beat than Vitali or Wladimir
    3) If he wins, he gets a belt, which is something he wants
    4) If he has a belt, he can get the lion's share of every other purse he fights, if he can't get a Klitschko fight again, and since Chagaev and Ruiz are the mandatories, they won't be small money fights.
    5) If he wins and beats a few other guys, the Klitschkos are going to want to fight him anyway, since he'll be the only legitimate contender left after they take care of their mandatories in Arreola, Chambers and Povetkin.

So what makes more sense? Fighting Wlad or Vitali now, making about $5 - $7 million, and probably getting destroyed, ruining his future earning potential, or making $10 - 15 million fighting Valuev now with defenses against crappy Ruiz and shot Chagaev, and THEN fighting the Klitschkos after their skills have further degraded?

Seems like an absolute no brainer to me, if you want to take the safe route.

King won't have options on Haye. Valuev is a Sauerland fighter, not a DKP fighter. King is merely his US co-promoter, and since the fight isn't in the US, King doesn't play a big hand in it.

Also, the WBA already has mandatories lined up for Chagaev, Ruiz and Meehan next, so he would have to fight those guys to retain his belt, whether Don King likes it or not. Chagaev and Ruiz aren't particularly dangerous to Haye. Meehan would probably KTFO Haye, but by that time, the Klitschkos would be done fighting their mandatories, and there would be no big names left for them to fight other than Haye.

If Haye can keep winning, he'll get to fight one of them anyway, and it's a LOT more likely he'll keep winning if he takes this easy route.

    ROFL :lol::lol::lol:

I guess we can all play naive and blind, but the fact is King owns a piece of the WBA belt via Valuev. If Haye takes it from Valuev then Haye still has his hands on it since Haye is not a mandatory.

The only way to remove the WBA belt from King's gasp is by going through a mandatory like Chagaev did. And we all know how King "handled" that situation.

Not sure what is so hard to understand here.

Let's just say DKP does indeed have options on Haye (which I doubt, because it's Sauerland, not DKP, that would get any options). Let's just say he has three options on Haye. What difference would it make, since the winner's next three fights would all need to be mandatories anyway?

And even if DKP has 100 options on Haye, he still probably makes more money this way than if he fought a Klitschko, since it was pretty darn unlikely he'd be able to beat a Klitschko, but it's pretty darn likely that he'll be able to beat The Thing and whatever other scrubs the WBA decides to throw his way.

Brick I completely agree with you. Easier opponents, lower risk income (which he probably needs as he's been quite inactive) plus Haye can defend in the UK and try to build a UK PPV name for himself as he "works off" the Don King options.

I didn't know that winning a fight, making a lot of money, and getting a world champion title was considered a no-win.

    Thanks.

No, he wants to fight them both but not have all the fights at a certain % that the Klits dictate. If he wins he should be able to negotiate a more equal purse.

**** its not rocket science :nut
