hey dude . i read ur post . its actually one of the more informed posts i read here this year. screw all these idiots who berate your post for been too long or been a newbie. if you have nothing constructive to say dont comment. this is a BOXING forum. if you dont wanna read his post just go to bed. i also feel ur pain about the state of boxing at the moment and worry for its health particularly for the next generation. boxings diminishing popularity should be a concern to sincere boxing fans because it dictates where our sport will be in years to come.
"What other sport is there when the best can avoid the best?" That is the entire problem...it's not the alphabet soup belts...it's the fact that a person can gain P4P greatness and achieve money and fame while continuously avoiding the best fighters in their relative divisions. Man, the thread starter here could have stated his ideas in a paragraph...I can't believe I read the whole thing. Honestly, I'm really tired of people talking about "what's wrong with boxing" What is even a bigger problem is when fighters adopt a fight style that isn't fun to watch but is super effective...that's what we're seeing now. Where are the Arturo Gattis of the world? Where are the fighters who aren't afraid to be hit? I'm sorry but I like to see some punching in my fights. That, in my opinion, is the biggest problem with boxing. But, honestly I think the sport has a lot of great fighters right now who are plenty capable of carrying the sport on thier backs. Guys like Sergio Martinez and Nonito Donaire...guys who aren't afraid to fight the best out there with fan friendly fight styles. Have faith...nothing bad lasts forever.
man am on the same page with u, the disturbing truth about being a hardcore boxing fan is that, the sport actually gets into ur blood stream to an extended of not wanting to quit even when this sanctioning bodies and promoters are willingly robing us our sport with their greediness at our expense. It's like a drug addiction, u can't quit instantly, u keep hoping next time they might come out with something good, so we keep on tuning in holding our breath for something better, and time goes n goes n goes while we wait. my suggestion, we need a boxing FIFA to rescue us, but then who's there to make that bold move when the Arums of the world are still in control. Great article, especially for the real hardcore boxing fans.:happy
