If Couture fights the Machida that fought Rampage, I think Couture would win.

Shield's better be looking for the take down A.S.A.P. The only possible way he wins this fight, realistically speaking, is if he gains top position.

And I've been saying it for a long time, and I'm glad to see others are tending to agree, but **** if Jon Fitch isn't getting screwed over BIG TIME! The man is ****ing 13-1 in the UFC! THIRTEEN AND ****ING ONE! And who gave him that loss? GSP. Not only that, it was a ****ing amazing fight that I've watched upwards of a dozen times. And, on top of all of it, GSP has stated again and again and again that Fitch is the toughest fight he's ever had. What the hell else does this guy have to do?

Fitch..beat B.J. (please) and then rematch GSP. I'll buy it for sure. I think he'll lose again, but it's for sure a good fight.

Pathetic co-main. They can't be serious. Couture has stated that he is done making title runs so why is he facing Machida?

Shields strength is his ground game. That is his only chance of winning this fight. If they stay on their feet he gets beat.

Shields couldn't keep Kampman on the ground for any sustained period yet he's going to do so with GSP?
Never. Shields is out of his league in this fight.

I honestly believe that Shields would have had a better chance against Silva...to be honest I think Shields thinks that as well. His strenghts just don't map well against St. Pierre - he's not going to be able to take St. Pierre down.

He kept henderson on the ground. I think he would be more focus in this fight. GSP improved his striking so i don't think shields would want any of gsp standing. He would go for the takedown cuz that's his only chance.

He kept down a Henderson who was on the brink of a heart attack after exhausting himself killing Shields in the first round. I don't think that means he'll be able to keep GSP down. Then again to be fair his problems with Kampmann were caused by a bad weight cut.

Dude, really? Shields absolutely 100% deserves the shot before Fitch. We're talking about a guy who is undefeated since 2002 with wins over Sakurai, Miller, Daley, Condit, Lawlar, Okami, Kampmann and Dan Henderson. Fitch already lost to GSP and lost every single round in a brutal one sided beatdown. If ANYONE deserves the shot based on their accomplishments it is Jake Shields.

Couture has got heart taking this fight... but deep down he must know that Machida style is made for taking out a wrestler like Couture. Then again Couture has much more to win in this fight compared to Machida.. who was robbed in the Rampage fight.

Anyone who beats Dan Henderson is instantly my number one contender.
His only losses are to fighters fighting at their peak and every single fight has been close.

Machida's not close to getting the title again (it's amazing how many ex-UFC champions there are fighting at light heavy right now, and then you throw in the up-and-comers like Jones and Bader), Couture has stated he's fighting either Shogun (not happening) or Machida or he's going to retire, and Couture's still one of the UFC's strongest draws.

Which is irrelevant toward my point. That was easily Machida's worst performance in the UFC. I don't know if getting cleanly knocked out by Shogun made him gun shy and unwilling to do anything, but he was horrifically bad compared to his previous fighting standard. (Rampage was horrifically bad as well.) If Machida is just as gun shy and timid against Couture and Couture hasn't severely declined since his past few fights, Couture will win.
