I guess were talking about the heavyweight division, in which case I don't really have an answer for you. We can take a little glance back 4 years ago when I believe every belt holder was with Don King. You had Rahman (WBC), Brewster (WBO), Ruiz (WBA), and Bryd (IBF). While the belt holders have changed, little has been done without Don King pulling all the strings. The division is no more exciting now, their are still 3 seperate belt holders, and the only thing history will remember about this era of heavyweights is that two brothers held belts at the same time.

I think King will make sure Haye gets a fair contract deal, unlike before. If he does infact beat Valuev for the WBA belt, he will then have the leverage needed to get maybe a 50/50 with the brothers or at least make it so he doesn't have to fight the brothers 3 or 4 times to get a deal done.

" "Im Falle eines Sieges von Haye wollten wir einen weiteren Kampf gegen Wladimir vereinbaren. Die Rückkampf-Klausel ist normale Praxis im Boxgeschäft. Einen solchen Vertrag hatte er bereits vor dem Kampf gegen Wladimir unterschrieben", sagte Bönte..."

"In the case of a victory of Haye we wanted one further fight against Wladimir. These are normal terms in the boxbusiness. He had signed a similar contract befor the fight against Wladimir", said Boente (The manager of the Klitschkos)

So who is lying and who tells the truth...

Or in some cases, no cheque at all.

I'm still puzzled to this day how Tim Witherspoon ended up owing King money.

But most promoters are fiends, on that issue I agree with you.

At the end of the day it's all about the money my friend. King is a piece of ****, but the man is good at his job. He came from nothing, he came out a jail a thug, and is now living the american dream. King, like all big time promoters, are going to get big shares of your money. Thats the price you pay for the best, and thats with anything. You want the big money fights and a faster route to the title shots, guys like Arum and King are your best friends. Just don't expect to see the majority of your paychecks. Though that piece of pie is still probably bigger than what some small time promoter will get you.

Haye was never 30% of a 10million purse, Haye was only offered the UK TV rights, thats ALL. He will earn that and more against Valuev, common sense to fight the lesser fighter for more money and less options

A Rematch is box buisness as usual. Every promoter takes options.

Sauerland and King usually 3 by voluntary defences. Nothing special.

Without the rematch clause Lewis could not fight Rahman again. He took Rahman to court with the fight contract including the rematch clause for Lewis.

Wladimir had not rematch clause for Corrie Sanders so he could not fight Sanders again. Wlad learned from this.

The Klitschko's probably gave him the **** contract because they have taken all the pre-fight stuff from before personally, and would rather not give him an easy ride to the top.

EDIT: This is speculation, just like every other person's thoughts on the matter ;)

Actually, the rematch clause should GUARANTEE that he has to fight either brother, after he trashtalked both to no end for month. I would have let him sign with his blood that he HAS to fight, not just yap and trashtalk and then show the finger.

Haye talks and talks ..... how good he is, how easy the fight with Wlad will be, Haye would win.... all this ****.

So why did Haye sign a contract and than pulls out and know again pulls out. Haye is a cheap talker nothing else.

He is a big Kid and not adult.

I think that it is possible that by the time when Haye would really wish to fight Klitchkos - Vitaly would retire. So I think he really lost his chance to beat the man that is considered by many people a linear champion.

Agree, King knows his business, but then we all have to agree that it's all about the money and a year Haye's media performance really was aiming on something like this deal with Valuev, but not on "saving division". Now I really understand Haye, but cannot understand his fans who still stay on his old statements.

This era would be remembered not only for brother-champs, but also for Vit's comeback, for Wlad's series of defnces. Thought unifying with the participation of Haye would be really great.

And I think that there is a possibility that there would be a fix and that King planned Valuev's retirenment long ago and willing to sacrifice him for his new star, just like Kohl thrown Bidenko for Boytsov recently (at least it looked like so to me).

The premise of this thread actually had some truth to it if Haye had a contract Klitschko contract to fight Vitali and a King contract (somehow) to fight Vitali, and choose King's contract.

But since King's contract is against a relatively easy win, whereas the Klitschko's is against someone likely to knock Haye out, it's not that hard to understand why Haye choose the former.

Comparing the two contracts is comparing apples with oranges because it involves a high risk, high reward (Klitschko) and a low risk, relatively high reward fight (Valuev/King).
