I worry for Williams in this fight. People forget but it wasn't to long ago that a 5'10 Antonio Margarito gave him a tough 12 round fight. Pavlik has been written off a lot since his decisive loss to Bernard Hopkins, but Hopkins is a special fighter. Williams ain't as crafty and experienced as B hop, and like you say, he doesn't want to get hit with too many right hands. His clock will stop if he does. I cannot wait for the fight, it's an outstanding match-up. Two big guys, insane work rates from both, Pavlik has the power, Williams has the stamina.

NBA has chided me for saying as much, but as Jack Loew pointed out, Pavlik has the knack for changing peoples lives after he 'touches their chin'. Pdub is a natural WW. I don't give a crap how tall he is. He had to eat extra to make MW for the Wright fight. I'd honestly rather see him fighting good WW's but they don't like his reach advantage. I really wanted to see him against Mosely myself. I think Mosely missed the boat on this one.

But, HBO really wanted this fight. It was the biggest money fight for both guys. So, let's hope it turns out to be a good fight for both.

 

You still thinking of making this one? My situation has changed drastically since I talked about going so it is out for me. Besides, I would have rather been in AC in early October than early December.

I think Paul Williams will probably get knocked out in this fight. I don't think any fighter down at 147lbs can be compared to a 6'1 Power Punching Kelly Pavlik, and neither can a rusty Winky Wright. It's true, Pavlik hasn't been too active himself, and Rubio was a tune-up at best - but he's just going to be bringing so much to the table. Size, Power, stamina, and he's operated more effectively against better opposition at 160lbs than Williams. If Pavlik lands often enough, I see a reaction, and considering big Paul does tend to get hit, I see him falling. I could be wrong.

 

If George Peterson does not come to his senses, this will not be a great fight, and it will end badly for Paul. So, anyone know of any recent comments from Peterson?

regardless of what they say publicly, i can't see camp williams being foolish enough to think they are gonna walk in there and steamroll pav...but crazier things have happened

 

Not ONE damned thing you do will effect the outcome of this fight. Learn to enjoy ..... Besides, Pdub could use at least ONE friendly voice in the crowd that is going to be largely Pro Pavlik.
