he deserves an easy fight if he wants one. he just needs to stop claiming\pretending, aswell as his fans, that he deserves the pound for pound number one beating these type of euro level guys (Dzinziruk, Barker)

Shane is bigger name than Berto? what's the comparison between pirog and barker?

Here's a question for you? Why did floyd chose not to unify with Margo/Cotto/Pwill instead of a fake retirement?

Martinez was willing to fight Sturm but HBO did not agree to Germany and Sturm claims he can“t come to the US since his tv deal forces him to fight in Germany for his next five fights. Pirog might be a different story though seems to me that guy gets totally ignored in the US since he spanked Jacobs

HBO dont want to risk Pirog getting another win where he was supposed to loss. they dont want a repeat of what Pirog did the last time he was on HBO. Martinez on his part dont want the fight either.

You're right about Martinez being masterful against Williams: I exaggerated to bring home the point that the only big wins on Sergio's record are Williams and a lucky win over Pavlik (who outboxed Sergio and lost because of a cut which made it difficult to fight his normal fight).

The Dzinziruk fight was meaningless because Dzinziruk is a nobody: I don't care what HBO says.

As for Felix Sturm, there is a simple way for Martinez to fight him: go to Germany and knock him out. Who cares about HBO, he could do it on European TV. If he wants to fight, he can do it. Just like Hopkins, who agreed to fight Pascal in Canada, went there and took his title. No pain, no gain.

Sergio Martinez will be forgotten by boxing historians, because they will look at his record and see only 3 big names on it: Margarito (who mopped the floor with him), Pavlik (a near draw) and Williams (a near draw and a good win).

 The sheer idiocy of this single post only tells the story of the general boxing fan, it's not a critic of you.

HBO never wanted Pirog, he just happened to be an opponent who upset the Jacobs plan, but I ask you, DID THEY EVER CALL DMITRY BACK? No. Over a year and that HORRIBLE performance of his recently (did you watch it BTW?), they never will.

I like Dmitry Pirog, and I would've loved a double header to build him up, but HBO makes or breaks fights. They don't want Pirog. They didn't even want Klitschko-Chambers, the world HW champion vs. a top American contender. It's up to him and it's unlikely they'll accept Martinez-Geale either (though Daniel looks to fight Mundine) becuase it'd need more money.

Sergio Martinez wants ANY LMW & MW acceptable by HBO, going down to 154 if necessary, but here are his options:

Cotto wants no part of him, likely to face Margo
Pacquiao despite being a LMW champ, says he's too small, fights a LW next
Angulo turned career high payday down, also his career is over
    Dzinziruk just got beaten
Williams just got knocked out, still got Martinez's Summer date
    Alvarez is tied up
Golvokin is tied up with the WBA mess
    Hassan N'Dam too
Sturm apparently is in the same shoes plus fights Mackling and doesn't wanna take a risk
Pirog is unwanted by HBO and barely beat a C-level fighter
    Kirkland got knocked out
    Ishida is unwanted by HBO
    Lemieux go knocked out
Rubio is being saved for Top Rank as Chavez' mandatory excuse not to face Martinez
Chavez took Martinez belt, but doesn't want him
Winky is nowhere to be found
Guerrero, Quillin and other youngsters are being built up
All the top SMWs are tied either to tourney or to some other fight

So who should World MW Champion Sergio Martinez fight when they take his titles, take his network date, turn down half of his opponent and the other half think he's too good? And then you come here ignoratly telling Martinez who just beat Cintron (got jobbed), Williams (got jobbed), Pavlik of 178lbs, Williams of P4P top3 and Dzinziruk (unbeaten top3 LMW) is cherry picking and ducking other fighters? Does that make sense in your opinion?

Yes, HBO should step up and put down the money for Pirog, I wish. But they won't. They first turn down Zbik for Martinez who gets stripped because of that and then accept Zbik for Chavez. That's the way they roll homie. Tell me if it's Martinez fault!

You say my post is idiotic, but allow me to give you an English lesson. Did you mean to say critique? A critic is a person; a critique is criticism.

You should wonder why HBO doesn't want Pirog. It's not because of his recent (victorious) fight, but because Pirog has already taken one title from the USA to Russia, and HBO doesn't want him to take Sergio's title (and marketability) too. It's about the USA boxing market not wanting to give Europe even more leverage than it already has.

Since Martinez has recently said that he wants to go down in history as an ATG, I'm just pointing out that he can easily do that by coming to Moscow and beating Dmitry Pirog and Gennady Golovkin, then going to Germany to beat Felix Sturm. He might lose his current title, but he would gain the other titles, as well as the acclaim of all boxing fans who would view him as the undisputed champ.

He's a talker and not much more. After beating a nobody, he's going to fight another nobody. And he calls himself an ATG. Wake up guys: he's just another fraud.

That nobody was quite possibly the best LMW on the planet, an undefeated champion. Before that a top3 P4P-er. Before that the World MW Champion undefeated at the weight. Before that Williams the 1st time. Before that a top3 LMW. What a cherry picker! Ban him from boxing! Long live Chavez Jr and Dmitiry Pirog, more deserving to hold the belts! :patsch

Also, I'm just curious, can you give me a link where Dmitry Pirog of Russia makes an offer to Martinez covering all the necessary expenses to make this fight? Same link please with Sturm of Germany or Geale of Australia. Once they make the offer I guarantee Martinez will sign. He's an Arentiean after all who traveled to Spain, to the UK, to the US, so your claim of him not willing to travel despite all the great offers being thown at him is... well I let you to label your opinion.

Ok you win, Dzinziruk is the best LMW on the planet. Let's move on.

Here is a link where Pirog calls out Martinez.

    http://www.livesport.ru/boxing/2011/03/18/pirog/

Here's a brief summary in English:

"Yes, I am willing to fight Sturm, but on neutral territory, because I don't want to get robbed in Germany. I'm also willing to fight Golovkin. But to be honest, the first name on my mind is Martinez. I know that many people think I'll lose this fight, but I want to fight him."

Whenever Pirog gets interviewed in Russia, he calls out Martinez. On the other hand, when anyone asks Martinez if he will fight Pirog, he says there isn't enough money in the fight, and then goes on to fight Sergei Dzinziruk and Darren Barker.:good

Lou DiBella refuse to even speak to Pirog's management. They want no part of him. It's common knowledge in Europe, but in America you'll never know this because you only get information from HBO.
