Yeah, Martinez is a ducker. Pirog was indeed more then impressive in his last fight, in Russia. I think Martinez seen he rather not take any chance and fight this guy.

Martinez is an incredible fighter but him and his dumb**** promoter need to shut up about calling out smaller fighters and then ending up fighting a nobody like Barker.

Embarrassing that HBO would even approve this.

 

I don't think you can really accuse anyone of getting their information from poor sources since you thought Dzinziruk was a nobody atsch Dzinziruk has a far better resume than Pirog and will be getting at least two fights on HBO, but feel free to keep pushing your nonsensical "HBO is afraid of Europe" conspiracy theories.

And it's great that Pirog says he wants to fight Martinez, but that means absolutely nothing for BigBone's point about "covering all the necessary expenses." The unfortunate thing is that Pirog brings absolutely no money; Barker at least might have fans who can travel and can actually speak English to promote the fight. Dzinziruk did not bring money on his own but HBO was willing to put up the cash for a fight because of their deal with Shaw for Bradley-Alexander. Both of these fights will indeed have more money in them than any Pirog match, especially since it's been over a year since he's done anything relevant to US audiences.

 

So Pirog calls out Martinez in a local interview in Russian and you wonder why it doesn't make headlines in the US?

DiBella can say all he wants, at the end of the day if HBO steps up the fight can be done, it's TOTALLY up to them as was the case with Martinez' last few fights. But don't look for logic with HBO. They turned down Zbik for Martinez who got stipped because of that, but OK'd Zbik for Chavez, who picked up the very belt! atsch

That's HBO to you, and you know how many calls Pirog got since the Jacobs win? ZERO, and that was BEFORE his horrible outing, it's less than zero if they watched that one. DiBella only asked to build Dmitry up, but they didn't. Surely Pirog's career is not Martinez' or DiBella's business, now is it?

The cold and hard truth is that from HBO's standpoint whether it's Pirog or Barker it makes no difference, Martinez is the draw and will bring roughly the same ratings either way as few remember that night vs. Jacobs. BUT! HBO would have to pay Pirog at least 3 times what Barker is getting, so who do you think they will choose? And make no mistake, HBO choses Martinez' opponents or they under the deal with another promoter not named DiBella. That's a fact.

Let's just hope HBO actually steps up and pays Pirog as they paid for Dzinziruk under the Gary Shaw deal. But they won't. Surely that's not Martinez fault who has ZERO bearing on opponents?

This just goes to show there will always be irrational haters. You can covincingly beat the 3 most relevant fighters at 160-154 whilst being a career 154er (once a welterweight) and still be accused of cherry picking.

 

:roll: Yes, because beating Pirog is really going to rocket Martinez up the ATG charts. It would be nice if he could unify, but if that's what you really want you should be calling for Sturm and Geale to fight him, since Pirog and Chavez's belts rightfully belong to Martinez anyway.

IMO Sergio Is One of the Most Exciting fighters to watch! He Will Beat ANYBODY! and I MEAN ANYBODY at 154-160. For anyone to accuse him of ducking is just a Idiot.
