It's possible Mayweather-Ortiz PPV sales will not do good

I have been in touch with Richard Schaefer and HBO regularly. They simply do not have enough data yet from some huge systems to make an accurate report of the numbers. What people dont realize is that when numbers are announced they are done based on years of experience and extrapalation of numbers based on comparing fights to other similar fights and totals in certain markets. For whatever reason this fight has been harder than others. That said both Schaefer and HBO, without saying a specific number they do not have yet, both have told me that without question the fight is well over 1 million buys. The big question is how much over. They want to announce a number that they believe will be close enough to the real number and since it may be 1.3 or more and edge close to 2nd all-time non heavyweight they want to be right. By the same token, it could be 1.2 or 1.25 and not hit 1.3. They just want to be correct from what they both tell me. But the rumors and innuendo that it did poorly is just a load of crap.

I think anything below Pac's PPV numbers against Mosley would be a disappointment for Floyd.

 

Those numbers never officially came out.

Bob threw it out there once but we still waiting for official confirmation. Considering arum never ever mentioned it again speaks volumes that he lied.

Could be also the same with mayweather v ortiz ppv. When a ppv does well both camp can't stop talking about it, arum was silent in the pac v mosley ppv numbers and golden boy been silent about this one. Both ppv's did not do the numbers that had been said.

In fact fight hype was the first to throw pac v mosley ppv numbers out there with out a solid source, everyone else ran with it, and fight hype were also the ones to throw the 1.3 ppv buys for mayweather v ortiz.

 

Difference is, there was no talk news rumors about the PAC/Mosley PPV numbers to dispute the 1.3 M. In Floyd/Ortiz case it's different. Granting some of the source are confirmed Floyd-Hater but still, when there's smoke there's a fire. :deal
