This was before last nights super flyweight unification match WBA protests officials! Saturday, May 17 2008 The WBA has protested the manner the selection of the officials for tonight's pay-per-view super flyweight unification fight between WBA champion Alexander Muñoz and WBC king Cristian Mijares in Durango, Mexico. Official WBA Statement: "Considering the enormous importance that this bout has for the world and following the usual process of officials selection, the WBA sent a list with five suggested names to the Federation of Mexican Boxing Commissions (Federación de Comisiones de Boxeo Mexicanas). However, only Panamas Gustavo Padilla was accepted. Americans Burt Clemens and Marty Sammon were appointed as the other two judges while Jon Schorle, also from the US, will be the referee. Therefore, the WBA cannot guarantee the result of this fight if it goes the distance and eventually will not accept any complaint from any of the boxers. Also, the WBA considers that a great opportunity to prove the world that Latin American officials are in the same level with their American colleagues has been wasted due to this invasive attitude from a national commission that has not respected the appoinments made by two international sanctioning bodies like the WBA and the WBC." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- So WBA is complaining about not getting in their judges and for a fight last night that was clear as day of who the winner was last night. WBC Judges Burt Clements 116-111 scored it for Mijares Marty Sammon 116-112 scored it for Mijraes WBA Judge Gustavo Padilla 113-115 scored it for Munoz!?!?!? Wba was trying to pull something in last night's unification fight
I don't see what the big deal is. They're simply voicing their frustrations over the lack of consideration of Latin officials. They're sticking up for their guys. There is no controversy here.
Whether or not the score was premeditaded, the only WBA judge to score for the clear loser AND WBA champ does not loook good at all.
Yo bigbone, everytime i see your avatar, it reminds me of that great ****in movie "oldboy" i always forget to buy
Oh come on if it wasn't for the WBA we wouldn't have 'regular' champions and 'super' champions and then we'd have far too few 'champions'!!!
The IBF will always have the WBA beat even though ... the "regular" and "unified" champion status is ridiculous ...
Oh and if the WBA has a problem with it ... they can just strip Mijares of his strap ... or down grade his championship to regular instead of unified. They did the same thing to Jermain Taylor when he beat Hopkins ... and gave the championship fully to Felix Sturm even though ... Taylor held all the belts.
The alphabet groups do whatever they damn please. Straight out corruptness right under our nose. ....and the funny thing to me is that they do nothing to hide their shenanigans. The WBA released their statement of complaint before the fight, and there it is, their bafoonish dishonest judge is the one that made a laughingstock out of what it is to judge fairly and honestly. Yes, all these alphabet groups are complete jokes, but I've got to admit that the WBA took the cake with the release of that statement! :nut The whole judging process is such a sham, its no longer sad, its funny! !
