It's sad when former heavyweight champions resort to the pro wrestling circuit

Even when alphabet champions who weren't exactly legends end up in there making a spectacle of themselves. It's just sad to see boxers in a ring associating their profession with such hammy fakery.

It's a way to make a living, regardless of your personal thoughts on it.

Ali helped keep himself in the public eye during his exile by wrestling, which helped his comeback become smoother.

Ali was not a former champion when he "Fought" Inko. He was at the time the reining heavyweight champ.

OK, I take it all back. There are far worse things that former heavyweights can do.

This is truly tragic though :

Pro wrestling is far more honest than pro boxing.

Something I have learned in my old age.

Trevor Berbick was apparentely just as good as an actor as he was as a boxer.

Professional wrestling treats its old timers MUCH better than boxing. People who put in long periods of service to major wrestling promoters often get backstage jobs to help support themselves in their retirement. If you have talent, you really have to work hard at messing up your life to end up as a broke wrestler.

Boxing could learn a lot from wrestling.

I think it is sad, but Michael Dokes would have made a helluva wrestler with his personality.

The man was an overachiever, in many respects.

Poor Jake the Snake. He had it all in the 80's and was easily Vince's biggest star without a belt, and he had the sexy Cheryl Roberts as a wife. Crack Cocaine and alcohol did away with all of that, and now he is Skid row.

It is great that there exists the Cauliflower Alley Club, which supports former athletes of wrestling and boxing. www.caulifloweralleyclub.org
Most members seem to be wrestlers, but there are former boxers, too.
