And look what Henry Cooper did to Ali, doesnt work like that.
Tyson had an off night, at 19(!) v Tillis who was decent enough and still won.
Ali got sloppy and wiped out(but for Dundees "burst glove").
Fighters, even the best have off nights.
Tyson was at least as fast as Ali, and threw in combination which is very difficult to nullify at such speed.
Ali could deal with Foremans power as he could prepare for it, Tysons quickness would ensure Ali got hit with shots he didnt see coming.

Ali could win this, no doubt, but for a few rounds he's going to be in there with the best puncher he'd ever have faced, who was much quicker than anyone he faced, and quicker than himself.
It is a real pick em fight IMO, and if forced to pick, Id pick the Tyson, only at his very very best.

Tall, rangy boxersfrustrated the hell outta' Mike. Tucker, Tubbs, Holmes and Buster, even though Mike overcame most of them, Ali would've been talkin' **** to Mike all night. Mike came apart because Buster stood up to him, even punching MT after the bell and shoving him a lot. Bullies can't stand this. Hell, a young primed Holmes would've beaten MT

Prime Tyson beat who, exactly? A LHW Spinks? An aged, two-years retired Larry Holmes? Be serious. Tyson had great natural skills, but he was emotionally fragile and folded whenever anyone didn't wilt under his stare. A prime Ali would have had too many strengths for Tyson to overcome. First and foremost, a mental toughness that Tyson couldn't even imagine.

:patsch Shut the **** up NOOB!

Have you heard of the pharse of styles makes fights...So just because Frazier was able to do it doesnt equate to Tyson doing the same thing...I guess you forgot about the other 2 times Ali beat Frazier.

Fair enough. But I still think Foreman and Shaver's might of been bigger punchers than Tyson were though. Tyson's speed came when he was on the inside. Once again, Ali would of tied Tyson up once he was on the inside. Tyson vs. Clay, style wise, Clay wasn't as smart as Ali, so I will agree with you there with a Tyson victory. But Ali was more cerebral even though he wasn't as athletic as his earlier self. But yea, it wouldn't be easy for neither of them. It might of actually been a snoozer of a fight.

yeah, but look at holmes.he had a great chin and took some massive punches, but no one was able to stop him.then along comes tyson and he knocks him out.

there's two ways a fight with ali would go...

1.tyson brings the pressure and ali tie's him up constantly, resulting in a horrible points win that goes tysons way.

    2. tyson knocks him out.

Prime vs Prime, do you think Frazier would have beaten Tyson?

For what its worth, my view is, Tyson is ALL wrong for Frazier! Tyson was probably THE fastest starter in HW history. And it wasn't just reckless aggression, he was very calculated, had great skills, make a guy miss, then make him pay!

Frazier was at his peak in FOTC, yet he still took a lot of punishment! Frazier used to have take a punch to land his own.

I'm Ali's biggest fan but I feel especially early on he could be a big problem for Ali,mainly in terms of his hand speed.Ali always had this advantage over his opponents but it would be marginal against Tyson and there is always the chance that Tyson could have gotten inside of Ali with some of his rushes especially early in the fight.
That apart I think Ali simply out manoeuvres and outsmarts him.The Frazier Tyson comparison style wise isn't valid because they're two completely different fighters,as a pressure fighter and on the inside Frazier was far superior.Tyson's best work was from mid range on the inside he was very average and Ali would have simply tied him in knots in there.

Holmes was past his prime and had already lost to Spinks by the time Tyson got to him. Holmes was 38-39 when Tyson beat him. Tyson beat a name, he didn't beat the real Larry Holmes. Kinda the same when Holmes beat Ali.

People need to take the mental aspect into consideration as well, ali would verbally destroy mike even before the opnening bel.
I can not say who would win though, though about the scenario several times but most of the time cant make up a clear prediction.

I think Tyson could definitely cause Ali problems.

Didn't Cus always tell Tyson that nobody could beat Ali? That would definitely be on Mike's mind.

It would certainly be a great fight.

Tyson could lose to some ATGs, but he's one of the best H2H guys ever, especially if you are not extremely tall. Mike can beat anyone out there, from any era.
