Putting a bow on it and adding insult to injury, he just took his title via a 50-45 x3 shutout.

Spong and Manhoef are about to walk out!

 

Round 1

Pretty cautious opener. Calm before the storm here. Spong lands a nice high front kick to the face. Manhoef is working mostly clipping leg kicks while keeping his guard up. Huge sweeping right kick behind the knee by Spong.

Definite Spong round, 10-9

 

Round 2

Spong gets Manhoef backed into a corner, eating hooks. Jumping side kick by Spong. Manhoef throwing combos backing up to the ropes. Knee up the middle by Spong. Big whipping overhand right by Spong, partially blocked. HUGE left hook rip to the body by Spong. Manhoef blocks a jab and takes a kick to the ribs. Right hand stuns Manhoef! Knees to the face! BIG KNEE! Right hand! Manhoef is barely staying up, leaning against Spong and the ropes, whichever is closer. Manhoef gathers himself and clears the cobwebs, but no sooner does Spong load up a huge flush straight right hand. Short jumping knee by Spong. Jabs by Spong. Manhoef kicks back, and slices a few left hooks to the body while backing up. Jab and body kick by Spong. Jab and knee to the body. Manhoef catches his leg and spins him.

Round 3

High kick by Spong rocks Manhoef back to a corner. Spong is laying on the heavy pressure, jabs and right hands up top and kicks to the midsection. Manhoef drops a level and fires hard right hands to the belly, then tosses a high left hook while backing out of the pocket. Lots of movement by Manhoef. Wild overhand right by Manhoef, windmilled and missing as Spong slows his roll and leans back. Spong chips away with body shots coming forward using fist and foot. Manhoef is struggling to get past Spong's jabbing and kicking range, over-committing and lunging when he tries to counter and buy some time. Spong keeps pushing him back. Manhoef jabs into the guard. Kicks to the shins by Spong. Manhoef answers in kind, and takes a big left kick to the floating rib. Manhoef hurt badly. Spong puts him on the ropes and throws straight punches. Manhoef blocks, and survives.
