Bloody hell, that's a bit of a shock!

Lara's coming off a disappointing draw and is now put in against Williams, **** management. Way to early for him.

And Carlos Molina who drew against Lara is now fighting Cintron on Showtime - Rios/Antillon undercard. So it's turned out alright for both Lara and Molina :yep

 

I guess they are hoping they catch Williams at the right time without confidence. Lara is far more accurate and might punish Williams' octopus falling out of a tree style. Finding it difficult to call ATM TBH, but it's an interesting one.

 

Way too soon for Lara. Williams will school him.

 

I think this is a good fight.

I thought Lara lost to Molina but then again Carlos Molina is a tough guy to beat. Been in so many close fights and seems to get the short end most of the time.

Williams is far from unbeatable and this could be perfect for Lara.

 

Saw this pop up on Yuri Gamboa fanpage on fb and inital reaction was "Yea Bollooooocks!!" but fair play to both lads coming off of bad showings last time out to take a dangerous fight from either guys' perspective. P-Dub's experience and range should be enough at 1st thought need to look into it more though I must admit

 

Good matchup but I think you have to favour Williams in this one

Not only did Lara look poor against Molina, he'd also previously looked poor against Brewer.

 

Lara has one thing; a nice one-two. And he only seems to get it off every so often, and blows hot and cold from fight to fight, looking spectacular, accurate and dangerous one fight, then one-paced, lethargic and average in the next.

P-Dub comes forward with no defence, but hopefully he has attempted to make some adjustments. If he focused on utilising his jab and length he'd be seriously formidable. I also think he has a decent chin, and that anyone, let alone Lara, will be lucky to hit him with a shot as sweet as Sergio landed.

Williams has only slipped up against southpaws; avenged his loss to Quintana in conclusive fashion, and had a close fight with (now top P4Per) Martinez in their first fight. So, not sure whether he's more susceptible to them or not really, but he seems more open against them.

The safe bet is that Lara doesn't get much going, and that P-Dub keeps up his usual output, punishing Lara on route to a wide decision. There is always the chance that a fight like this brings the best out in Lara, and the determination to make amends for a pretty woeful performance last time sees him look better than we've seen him before.

But Williams is a nightmare for anyone with his regular style, and he'd be best served mauling, out punching, and nigh on shutting out Lara to show the boxing World he's back.

 

His chin is better than decent.

 

Good on them both for taking the fight. Pretty impressed with Williams being willing to face 'names' straight away instead of looking for an easy, one sided comeback fight.

He now has to make a clear decision on what weight class he's staying at for me. All this moving up and down to fight anyone willing to has to stop. Personally, I think 154 and fights vs the likes of Cotto, Angulo is what he should try and focus on

 

I've always had the perception that he was basically unhurtable He's always walked into shots and I'd never seen him banjo'd once.

Sergio took some of that allure away, but as I said above, I don't expect anyone else to be able to pull that kind of shot out of their arse. Reminds me of this K.O in many ways :good

An anomaly stoppage. Martinez dropped Williams early on first time around of course, but nothing afterwards showed anything other than the durability we've come to expect of Williams. It was a wonder shot, that would've sparked most middleweights. Have always rated Williams chin in the highest calibre, sorry if my choice of words made it seem otherwise :good

 

Isnt it time Sky took more of a hands on role like HBO do in deciding what fights should take place. I know they are part of the process but shouldnt they have more of a say or the deciding say?
