How the **** does this guy get the WBC 147 belt without fighting anybody worth it? It's time for Berto to quit playing games and face someone.

If he must be sacrificed then so be it. Fight either one of the following guys Cotto,Margarito,Cintron,Clottey,Williams,Shane,Quintana otherwise get the **** out the division.

He shouldn't have gotten the belt then.

It isn't his fault really - all he has done is beat the guys put in front of him and has ended up with the WBC title.

If Floyd wouldn't have called it quits it wouldn't have happened, he would be merely a prospect rather than being up there to be shot at.

He's in the same position Cotto was at 140. They both won vacant major titles at about the age of 24. Cotto wasn't thrown into the fire right after winning his strap. Berto can still get 1 or 2 more fights against fringe contenders before stepping it up in 2009.

He is actually 24 and Clottey called him out last night for unification of the WBC/IBF welterweight belts.

I'm not saying I oppose that he got the belt. What I mean is that hes got a big time belt, its time for him to face some B+ opposition. There wasn't much opposition at 140 for Cotto, Floyd wasn't going to fight him there was nothing in it for Floyd. Hatton never got around to fighting him. Cotto did very well at 140lbs with the amount of time that he had beating 3-4 decent B level fighters. Now for Cotto at 147lbs he was already developed and was thrown into it.

Point is, Cotto didn't get a belt at 147lbs when the division was HOT and he wasn't green at the time that he got it...Berto IS green and he DID get a belt at 147lbs right when the division is HOT. It was a bad move for Dibella to give his fighter a belt like this, What doe she still want to do with Berto? Groom him into having a possible title shot when he already HAS the title? Berto still needs to grow and get some decent fights, but he already has the belt so I guess thats not gonna happen. Time for him to be thrown into the wolves.

Indeed. He really needs to fight somebody, there is no doubt.

He is no more a champion than Alex Arthur at the moment.

Yeah, but he won a belt at 140 when the division was hot. He was ranked as high as no.3 at 140 and never faced any of the top fighters there. Getting the belt is in no way a bad thing for Berto. He's under no obligation to fight any of the other champs. He can bide his time for another fight or two before taking on some of the top fighters. There's no need to rush the kid right now.

The 140lb division was hot? Cotto didn't get a fight vs any of the top guys at 140lbs because he wasn't going to get a shot vs any of them, and if he ever would have he would have been in bad shape because he wasn't feeling 140lbs anymore because he was draining. Either way Berto's situation is different, he is in a division that is looking at him like baby prey because they want his belt. Floyd came sweeping through 140lbs to fight Gatti, Hatton got Tszyu and Cotto was on his way up to 147lbs. Cotto wasn't ever in a real position to fight Hatton or Floyd or Tszyu. Cotto did a good job at 140lbs for how much time he was down there for, he faced stiff competition while he could...

The difference is that Berto is, everyone in the division is looking at him because its a belt they can get instead of having to go through PW or Margarito. lol, the kid is ****ed...I like him but he is going to have a rough time.

Maybe what they should do is feed Berto to a couple of B+ plus level fighters like Mr. Gatekeeper Judah at this point. Or maybe even Carlos Quintana.

Does Berto deserve to fight 2-3 more C level fighters? HELL NO. I won't give him **** if he fights 2 or 3 B level fighters but seriously, he has to accept the fact that everyone is coming after him...... its the truth lol

We aren't expecting him to fight a Cotto, Margarito or Mosley. But come on, he's fought absolutely nobody so far, not even a B level.

Just give us some sort of measuring stick, a Collazo maybe. Baldomir. Somebody.

Berto Is Young And He Is Taking A Nice Step Up In Class By Fighting Steve Forbes...i See Nothing Wrong With That..he Only Fights The People Put In Front Of Him...if He Beats Forbes Id Like To See Him Up Against A Kermit Cintron Or Joshua Clottey, Zab Judah....i Think Hed Be Tested Nice...but Give Him A Break For Now...
