Their dominance over their opposition is part of the issue. However, let's look at some other eras.

Ali's second reign. Other than the thrilla in manila, how many exciting defenses did he have? Jimmy Young, Joe Bugner, Ron Lyle, ? You see my point.

Tyson - Bonecrusher Smith? Tony Tucker?

Holmes - too many boring fights to mention.

Overall point - All heavyweight champs have had their share of dull defenses.

I would have liked to see them come into their best in the mid 90's. I think they would have fit in well and the fights would be far more competitive than they are now and brought out the best in both brothers but there is no question they are the best heavyweights of today.

Ali, Bowe, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Ibeabuchi, in their primes would have knocked out either Klitschko. I think Buster Douglas would have outboxed Wlad, as would a prime Michael Moorer or George Foreman. I think Vitali is the more talented brother who would beat Tyson, Holyfield or Lewis but he wouldn't beat them in their primes, only the old versions.

    Let's look at this objectively.

Buster Douglas could not beat Tony Tucker, let alone the Klitschko's.

Tyson against either Klitschko would look like the Douglas fight.

Michael Moorer was too inconsistent and mentally weak, and would have been stopped in the mid rounds by either Klit.

Bowe was too fat and undisciplined. He "lost" twice to Golota and was ruined. Against the current versions of the Klitscho's he would suffer a stoppage.

Holyfield would be too small and got hit too much. Bowe's size is a good indicator, and he was smaller and less fit than either brother.

Foreman used his size as an advantage over his opponents. This advantage would not exist against the Klitschkos.

Only the 1966 version of Ali, with his tremendous speed, reflexs, boxing skill, mental strength, and stamina could I see beating the K brothers.

This is a pretty bad era, no matter which way you cut it.

Just the look of some of these guys is quite disappointing. Arreola is just a fat bar fighter, nothing more and nothing less. He pretty much epitomizes what is wrong with the heavies these days. Basically anyone over 230 pounds, regardless of physique, who can brawl just well enough not to get killed in the ring, beats 1 or 2 journeyman, and all of a sudden the guy is considered a top contender.

I really don't know what the hell happened to this division. I mean, right around the time John Ruiz started to become a contender, it was like that was the beginning of the end. Ever since then, late 90's early 2000's, it has all gone to ****.

Also, look, lets just be honest. The fact that they are two brothers is very interesting and noteworthy, amazing accomplishments for the family and it's a nice little story. But they won't fight each other..... and even though that's a helluva reason to not want to fight, objectively, it's a pretty big problem when the two obvious front runners can't fight (Even though I wouldn't fight my own brother either). This era has been one of two kings sitting atop two separate mountains, neither is getting down to fight the other king, and all those who climb one mountain end up getting destroyed and usually realize that it's not even worth climbing the other.

I throughly enjoyed Wlad's KO of Tony Thompson myself..............

as well as watching Vitali smash the **** outta Sam Peter & Juan Carlos Gomez, two completely different style fighters, result? The same.

I agree b/c they claim the K brothers are boring but they fail to realize that Ali, Lewis, and Holmes had some boring fights too. Every champ has had boring fights before. I'm not going to lie though, coming from a Klitschko fan, I've read some crazy posts from Klitschko fans though and it makes the Klitschkos look bad sometimes.

Thanks. Let's hope the onslaught comes with objective analysis and facts. So far the doubters have presented only emotional arguments! :)

History has a way of being kinder to fighters AFTER they've retired.

Many of the posters here that swear Tyson was this amazing wrecking machine have only seen highlights & didn't see him struggle against less than stellar opposition. Don't get me wrong, he was a wrecking machine sometimes, but most of those opponents were scared like Spinks.

I think they'll get the credit they deserve once they've both been retired for a few years. They obviously are two of the more dominant heavyweights in recent history.

They get a lack of respect because they're at the top, and people always feel the need to try and discredit the best.

Look at Mayweather. The guy's one of the best boxers ever, dominates everybody he fights (with the exception of ODLH and Castillo of course), yet people call him a coward and say so and so was way better etc. That's just how it is when you're on top.
