Yea, but think about it, that happens on this board anytime a fighter loses, especially if it's by KO.

And the whole vasoline/drugged water bottle conspiracy thing sure didn't help either.

:rofl really if lewis really planned on retiring after johnson why did he wait till 6 mos after the vitali fight, Remember Lewis first stated he would rematch him after his doctor looked over Vitali's eye, well his eye checked out ok... then it became if he beat johnson who Vit destroyed in two rounds... Lewis was silent after the Vit Kirk fight... it wasnt until the wbc? might be wrong on which organization mandated in early january that Lewis must fight a rematch with Vitaly or be stripped... Then Lewis retired.:deal

I doubt Lewis wanted to fight Vitali again, but let's be real here. He was 38, had all kinds of money, nothing left to prove, there's no reason for him to give Vitali a rematch. He was ready to retire anyway.

I agree but the man saying that lewis planned on retiring after the johnson fight is just wrong he was interviewed a few months prior saying he was better then ever... I think Vit showed him his age and his vulnerability... the only thing i dont like about it is why string him along for half a year as i posted above the eye check the fight with kirk and saying we can get it on if you do these things... why wait till they mandated a rematch then retire right after they say you must rematch em... it almost seems like if he could avoid the fight he might of fought a few more fights.. hence why he waited 6 mos since his last fight and all the drama to retire.... Im not saying i dont agree he payed his dues and deserved to retire with dignity.. but why all the games then?

Ah ok, I guess I can agree with you there then. And he may have stuck around for some more paydays against some crappy guys, or he may not have, I guess only Lennox and his people will really know.

The issue I have with Kimbo is that he received all that media attention but can't fight a lick. See Seth P. fight as an example. His image (true or not) was / is very negative.

The Klitschko brothers have proven themselves in the ring and have a great image outside the ring, yet have received a fraction of the publicity in the USA.

All true. Most of the haters are coming around though. Some still cling to the "he didn't knock that guy out fast enough" or "he shouldn't have let that guy go the distance" type replies. "Tyson would've KO'd that bum in a single round"....................:rofl

Yeah lewis is an atg and i rank him #1 HTH against all other heavyweights but when dealing with the Klitschko's he seems to have an issue be it pride and maybe a little insecurity or something just like during the rach wlad fight he brought up that he finished Rachman quicker never mind that rach finished him quicker too ;) .. Lewis has shown throughout his career that he is a class act but it seems like with them he reacts differantly.... But yeah we never will know im just glad he got out before he started talking like toney or Taylor ali etc.. He still has his wits about him.. and he deserves props for that :happy

The flaw in those arguments are easily exposed with a visit to Boxing Rec.

For example, how many rounds did Ali's defenses or Larry Holmes's defenses average compared to the Klitschko bros?

Does anyone remember Tyson's title fights against Bonecrusher Smith or Tony Tucker?

The loss to purrity was early in Wlad's career and it was because he ran out of gas after dominating every one of the first nine rounds.

Foreman was a ranked contender or champion when he lost to Morrison and Schulz. At the same time he fought close fights with Holyfied and won by KO over Moorer.

The point is the 1990s were not better an era than today. This is accepted, except by those who want to ignore facts and logic and those that cannot accept that the heavyweight division is no dominated by international fighters, not just Americans.

Lewis is too far gone to make a viable comeback. He looks very overweight and unfit.
