EMBATTLED ITV is scrapping its boxing coverage after revealing it can no longer afford to screen costly live fights. An ITV spokesman said the overheads associated with its Big Fight Live show were simply too expensive. At the moment, boxing on free-to-air commercial TV is not economically sustainable, he said. Bosses pulled the plug just nine months into a two-year deal after broadcasting only 11 live shows. The channel has already axed 1,000 jobs and its programme budget has been slashed by 25 percent in the last year. :fire
:goodTo be fair, this was old news so I'm not too upset about it- although when it was announced officially last week it did really **** me off. The recession is affecting us all though and ITV are trying their best to keep people in jobs so they can't be criticised too much. If they say the boxing is too costly to run, then we have to accept it. ESPN are gonna get petitioned like crazy now!
old news, but don't see why you would have 2 commentators, 2 separate analysts, a presenter and a roving report if the costs were too high they could've just had rowling doing the presenting and commentating ala lampley of HBO, duke and barry co commentating with barry analysing at the end, wonda how much that would've saved them.
**** when did that happen? Was it any good, I can't see there being much to happen other than big boat, big boat hits iceberg, people die.
At the moment nothing will suprise me.... we just have to stick together and make sure that we keep the faith.... lets hope we have Bunce back soon on a channel.... any bloody channel!! :yep
