It is my opinion that ITV are, and always be, interested in broadcasting boxing. I also think that within 12 months - possibly 6, boxing will be screened live on ITV 4. I say this because ITV 4 will be screening the European Championship darts. Having recently dropped darts from its schedules. This proves that boxing can make a return to the channel. All we need is a determined and ambitious promoter - with a cracking stable of fighters. Sadly they're all at SKY. Some need to break away. Maloney could do it; so could Mick. I hope Fury/ Chisora does well on FIVE. But ITV is the home British boxing; Fury could be a real jewel for them. SKY have too many interests, Fury should be king of his own castle. Just my thoughts. For the past 15 years at least Sky has been the home of boxing in this country and cant see no reason why this will change for the next 15 years tbh Week after week we have live boxing on sky from around the globe, we should be thankful for it
Dont count on ITV, they are very unreliable when its comes to boxing. I think best bet is getting Olympians from 2012 and ITV will show there first pro fights, I believe the GB team will come back with alot of medals.
No chance. In the unlikely event ITV decide they want to show boxing again, the promoters won't accept the presumably lower fees ITV would pay for their fights. Plus it's a risky situation for someone like Maloney, to take a gamble on ITV sticking with it over a long period when he has the cushtyness of Sky at the minute. And ITV didn't neccesarily 'drop' darts, Sky won the rights for the Grand Slam tournament, and I reckon they thought '**** this' after that. It's a bit much to suggest just because they are showing darts again, they'll start back up with boxing.
The BBC are the biggest pricks of all. How they can take their license fees from the British public and steadfastly refuse to show any boxing in the light of how interested the public is given the right fight (i.e. this one)...its shocking really.
The thing is, the BBC isn't supposed to be just about viewing figures either. Boxing is a sport which has a deep heritage and tradition in this country. They should at least show a certain amount of boxing whether it attracts a large audience or not. Funny how they can show Tennis, Golf and F1: all middle class sports, repeated pictures of Pipa Middleton in 3D even and yet can't show one single boxing match. It's a disgrace.
The TV license is the biggest scam ever! How they can get away with forcibly charging people TV tax for so long is incredible.
