    This fight is a IBF eliminator fight, so maybe if Mikey Garcia beats Lipinets and vacates afterwards, the winner of Baranchyk vs Petrov could get a crack at the vacant belt.

    That would be a nice Cinderella Man turn of events for PP.

    Butt, is there anything else besides this fight in terms of potential excitement or quality out there for matches this upcoming weekend? I'm unsure if I'm missing anything.

    Valdez vs Quigg should be good.

    How do you see that one going, Chuck? I can't imagine a young and primed power house like Valdez getting three straight decision wins, I think he should manage to connect on the moving up in weight Quigg enough to break him down. Marriaga really took a career ruining type of beating from Valdez, and I haven't actually seen Oscar's last fight... How did he look in that one?

    It was workman like performance by Valdez, he got dropped by Servania, but got back up and went on to beat Servania convincingly. I think Valdez could stop Quigg, if Valdez fights smart and not try unload with every shot. Who do you think will win Russell?

    Heavily favor Valdez, he's a moderate favorite with the bookies as well.

    I just don't see what he does that can trouble Valdez, and I don't think Quigg changing corners in such a dramatic fashion this late in his career is a good move either. There's a good chance he gets stuck between styles and we don't even see the best of Quigg because he's no longer doing what actually got him to this level in the first place, he's trying to fight like Roach wants him to, on the road and moving up in weight none the less.

    Actually this is Quigg's 4th fight at featherweight.

    I know, but he's still effectively settling in while also getting a brand new trainer, and is also the smaller man. That's my point.

    @Sammy123 vCash thread please!:D

    Baranchyk is a caveman but has a puncher's chance, maybe, but I'm leaning towards Petrov, he's a terrible opponent to have as a replacement for Yigit, who quite frankly I wasn't sure Baranchyk would have beaten either. They've replaced a featherfisted southpaw boxer, with a heavy handed southpaw battering ram, Baranchyk won't know what hit him.:ggg

    Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was already pumped for the fights this weekend and this has added more fuel to that fire.

    I've always like Petrov and rooted for him in the Boxcino tournament some years back. I'm thinking The Beast will be a little too much for him though. Even though Baranchyk has been on a streak of decision wins rather than KO's, his activity and relentlessness will get him the nod methinks. Should be fun and I'll probably root for Petrov as the underdog.

    What do you think about Garcia vs Lipinets and Barthelemy vs Relikh II?

    Maidana is one of the best punchers of the past 20 years at 140, and he had to go to Petrov's body and head to close the show in that fight. I have no doubt saying Petrov has done nothing but improve in the years since then, and Baranchyk in all honesty is just some TV sort of prospect who's mowed over some regional level competition so far at best.

    I don't even think you can say his comp has been as good as Khytov or however you spell his name and look how that case of big power and zero defense went recently.

    I don't heavily favor Valdez against anyone at this point, you don't go life and death with Genesis Servania and Marriaga and earn that kind of rock solid belief from me. An argument can be made that in Quigg's only loss to date, he performed far better against Frampton in the closing rounds than Santa Cruz did either time, both win and loss, and that was with a broken freaking jaw, clearly Quigg has excellent whiskers, Valdez doesn't hit as hard as previously advertised, if Scott can get into a rhythm, he may very well be the guy that wins by stoppage here.
