If he wants more money than hes gonna have to fight somebody live, not Hawain Punch for god sakes, he has to move up in weight.
WHY? Does Calderon has the frame/size to go up to 112 or 115? Calderon is I think only 5 footer. The better scenario is all 4 champs fight each other, Calderon fights Viloria and Mayol fights Segura then winner vs. winner after that.
On boxrec they recorded the stoppage as illegal, and his opponent wasnt in danger of losing the fight. Three wins is nothing, I remenbered his name and face from Telefutura probaly. He is a nobody, Calderon can easily move up in weight where its stacked full of good opponents, yet everyone doesnt want to see it happen, the same people that ****ed up Calderons career, just a bunch of haters man. :rofl Weights mean nothing anymore, fighters today belong 4 divsions up from where they fight anyway.
I don't know. What I can tell you is he really doesn't care too much about that. If the money is good he will fight anyone. He has a family to support. He is not doing bad, but he surely could use a nice pay day. People wants him to go up to 112lbs. But he is not even a real 108lbs. And he s not getting younger. He is not a strong puncher and depends on his boxing skill and reflexes. The doesn't last forever.
Hell yeah Segura is a good opponent. That rematch against Canchilla was one hell of a scrap. Looking at the chin he demonstrated in that fight and the fact that Calderon has no power, it's going to be a very risky fight for Ivan, if it ever were to happen.
So you want Calderon to fight Omar Narvaez at 112 in Argentina or fight Darchinyan at 115 than fighting Viloria at 108 for a unification fight? Remember Viloria defeated Calderon in the amateurs but it doesn't mean more now (just saying it).
Is not 3 pounds. Learn your math. From 108 to 112 is 4 pounds. Is also 5 to 7 inches in height compare to the opponents. putting 4 pounds in a 5'6" body is not the same as adding them to a 5'0" body. Calderon could fight at 112 but he will go into the ring around 112-115. His opponents will be at around 122-125 the night of the fight. That is VERY significant!!!
I hear ya, there are some big risk names in the weights above him. He's what 34 or 35, I've never really seen him take too much punishment in his career, so he still has a few more good fights. But if his heart aint in it the outcome can be bad againist bigger opponents.
Calderon lost to Viloria once at amateurs, but also defeated him 3 times. He also defeated Miguel Cotto.
Calderon himself has shown interests in moving up in weight, all that doesnt mean a darn thing to him, too much math. :smoke
