I just can't get into him. He is great, no doubt. Generally I prefer stylists, so he fits the bill.

Just can't sit through one of his fights and far prefer Lopez. :|

I love Calderon.. His skill's are unreal.. Too bad I'm not all into the division he's in.. I'll keep track of Calderon's fights and all that, but I don't give a **** about anybody else until the 116 division..

Same here. I usually prefer pure boxers such as Ricardo Lopez (Who is one of my favourite fighters ever), but I just don't seem to be entertained by Calderon. I have the same feelings about Mayweather. I know he's a great fighter and all, but it really doesn't entertain me much because he very rarely opens up. Lopez for example was a great counter puncher and boxer, but was always willing to open up if the oppurtunity arrised.

I don't take anything away from him however, he's the 2nd greatest 105lber ever in my opinion and deserves alot of respect for what he's done.

Guys, I know what you mean. But I can get into any boxer when I am just looking at their strengths and strategies. I haven't seen to many boxers with the UNBELIEVABLE legs of Calderon. His movement and positioning inside the ring, particularly the very middle of the ring is unreal. The way he can hit you and suddenly shift 90 degrees to your left and right without you seeing him.

It is almost like he is always at perpendicular angles at his opponent. He is seriously amazing I really wish he was exposed more to HBO/Shotime or any other accessible station. Thank goodness for youtube though.

And honestly ACB I don't think that its that "you can't get into him", I just think it might be more to do with how bad he schools his opposition and how uncompetitive his opponents are. Don't you think that is a major reason you feel that way?

If he would have had decent competition at 105lbs, I think it would have been a blast watching him fight. To me theres no other reason why people could be turned off to see him (that is IF you enjoy pure stylists).

I wish they would televise some of his fights on HBO or even on some undercards of big ppv fights.. He is under Arum and Top Rank, so why not get him some publicity? I think people would love to see him fight.. Maybe setting up a huge fight in the future against someone like Naito or maybe even Donaire? He might be smaller, but I think he can box the breaks off a lot of fighters a couple divisions above him..

He is shooting for 112lbs after Cazares if he were to win. I hope he at least gets by Cazares just so he can have a crack at 112. Even if he lost at 112lbs I'd still love to see him do it. Even in losing a fighter like Calderon could show his greatness.

I thought it was just me.... I know Calderon is very skilled but I have a hard time watching him for 12 rounds.

btw... I see you with the Hector Lavoe avatar... I just saw 'El Cantante' yesterday. The movie could've been way better, but his music is dope. 'Dia De Mi Suerte', I think that's the name.... I really like that song.

Because he's not one of the best pure boxers ever, his competition level is pathetic due to limited amounts of talent around those particular weight classes and he's rather limited himself on what he can do. He's a distance/range fighter with a good defence that keeps workrate to a minimum and pot shots most of the time, he's also very fast with great timing.

But does that compare to guys with more extensive work, proven against real WC competition? Not at all.

He's boring because his work is not really varied. To be honest, multi-dimensional work offensively and defensively during a fight is some of the most entertaining stuff, compared to repetition. That's why you like Gavilian, he does a lot of different things.;)

Not at all, Arce was not competitive with Mijares, people were entertained no less because the work was varied and there was still some action because of higher workrates.

Low workrate styles, specifically without multi-dimension and KO threats, are very boring to watch for 12 rounds.

Pot-shotting is much more boring than combination punching.
