Ivan Calderon vs. Jesus Iribe RBR

Yeah, Calderon is a horrid fighter to watch. He fought a crude, 16-6 fighter and still ran around the ring.

I can appreciate the sweet science, but, I don't believe you can call what Calderon does, boxing. He runs, he holds and his punches have nothing behind them because his intent is just to score points, not inflict damage.

 

Ok the guy can't punch becasue is so smaller than the other fighters, and still mange to beat them and meke them look silly. So if the guy can't punch is boring good way to enjoy boxing go and see MMA if you like that. You are a fan of the wrong sport.

 

Both are boring but i enjoy seeing Calderon more.

Anyways, I can understand why people would think he's boring. Fortunately for him, the burden of creating new fan interest doesn't really fall on his shoulders. If Mayweather fought like Calderon there would be severe problems creating new fan interest.

Legacies are often hinged upon whether a fighter is entertaining (Gatti), for winning, or both. Unfortunately for Calderon, the entertainment and winning legacies are mutually exclusive. He does what he has to do to win and I can appreciate that.

 

He only RUNS, he doesn't try to box!!!!

I'm no fan of Floyd (in fact I'm the opposite) but I can appreciate his boxing skills, he is a defensive fighter not a runner, a counterpuncher, see the difference????

 

Before the fight, Calderon hyped the fight saying he will "KO COLD" Iribe. :rofl

 

Was he trying to use a baseball bat?

 

Calderon is afraid to take risks. He should be jailed for fraud.

 

WHAT a bunch of ******ed ppl in here... compare Calderon effectiveness to lure new fans to the sport with Mayweather???????????? Calderon may be boring but nobody is gonna judge boxing by watching his fights.... hell, most boxing fans didn't even know he was fighting tonight!!! Mayweather DOES carry a lot more weight in this issue, but he's still boring! BTW, not a Mayweather hater, but it is what it is!! Stop hating, Calderon won!! Bunch of Mexicans butt-hurt tonight? Anyways, it is true Calde should retire already, he's soon to get a realizing beating that's not going to be funny!!

You misunderstand. I was laughing at the discrepancy between IB's RBR and the comment of IC dominating up to the point the comment was made. Has nothing to do with letting commentators decide my opinion for me. :good

 

So... Calderon got hurt and dropped by a 16-6 bum, ran around the ring, and fought an ugly, ugly fight.

Still think Segura couldn't take him?
