On their best day, who wins this matchup between arguably the #2 and #3 ranked Strawweights ever.

Alvarez was a big 105 pounder who routinely had trouble making the limit. I see him taking the fight to the smaller Calderon behind his very heavy handed shots, roughing him up, and taking him out of his comfort zone. Calderon would outbox him in several rounds though, but overall I see Alvarez imposing himself more and winning on the scorecards.

I think Alvarez has the ability to put the pressure on Calderon effectively. I also think at 105(not 108 ) that Calderon at his peak could make this fight similar to the one with Cazares fought at 108. I see it being close, but I think I'd take Calderon to win a close Decision actually. Then again I've just been re-watching his Dieppa fight. Truly a masterpiece performance. And to imagine he's actually fading.

I agree, Ivan has had alot of trouble with big, strong, pressure fighters who can take the fight to him. Calderon would have alot of trouble keeping Alvarez off of him when he steps the pressure up and i think the harder shots would be landed by Rosendo.

Ivan will control the middle of the ring, but Alvarez should be able to bully and push his smaller foe into the ropes where he can land his bombs. If Alvarez lands a punch like the one he did on Lopez, Ivan won't be getting up. Calderon could win however, but would have to stay on his bicycle the whole fight.

Alvarez by late TKO or 115-113 decision.

That's the thing, even though Ivan tends to often move when pressure(especially after being hit), usually when he's caught up to he clinches pretty effectively, tying your arms up or landing short punches to the body. I think he could box and move well enough to handle the bout at mid-range, and box decently off the backfoot(probably getting the lesser of those exchanges in comparison though) enough that he would be able to clinch and get the set back to his pace, allowing him to squeeze out most rounds.

alvarez was a bit big for 105...see the calderon-cazares fight. He was close to losing that fight. Cazares although a bit inaccurate was hurting calderon and scoring KDs throughout the fight. Alvarez by UD or late TKO.

I think if that fight wasn't in P.R calderon could have lose
