Promising Kazakh heavyweight, two-time Olympic bronze medalist Ivan Dychko (7-0, 7 KO) shared his impressions of being in training camps of former and current world heavyweight champions – Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder.

On sparring with Klitschko: “I sparred with him in June of 2016. It was really great experience. I’ve participated in the 2012 Olympics, and if I had to compare at that time which is was more valuable to me - to be Vladimir Klitschko’s sparring partner or to participate in Olympics — I’d have chosen that it was better to be Klitschko's sparring partner. He is great, he is a legend, he is a champion of all champions. I always wondered how much I would pay to train in the camp with Wladimir Klitschko? And then I had the opportunity to train with him and get paid for it"

On sparring with Wilder: "I expected him to be better. I always compare (other boxers) with Wladimir Klitschko. Because after Klitschko’s camp my emotions were overwhelming. At Wilder's camp, I was like: “Oh, OK, and that’s all?” When we started sparring, I thought I would need to take his brutal right hand. And he did something... He has some skills, but I expected more. Sometimes I started to take it easier in the sparring with him, but only at the request of his trainer. His trainer told me: “Do not force up, be simpler”. So I let him to win our sparring on points. You need to know the specifics of this work. If I, an unknown boxer, would came and beat the champion, he would have begun to doubt himself. Their task is to prevent this. It happened when I beat Luis Ortiz in a sparring. If we compare Klitschko and Wilder, Deontay isn’t as good as Klitschko was, so it was much easier for me to box with him. Well, the training camp itself was organized worse for the sparring partners, for the fighters, and it was cheaper. In my opinion, I can beat guys like Wilder and Ortiz. I don’t even need to learn anything new to beat Wilder."

That's not hard to believe lol. I bet his trainer gives all the sparring partners the talk how Deontay is "a special boy".

Miller says the same thing. He was in Wlad's camp when Wilder got sent home with his chin in a polythene bag.

Lol, they ask novice fighters to go easy on a champion with over 30 pro fights and let him win:)
Oh well, at least this era is competitive.

That’s an enormous insult to call Dychko a novice. He fought in two Olympics.

He is new in pro boxing, where Wilder is suppose to be one of the kings.

Wouldn't read too much into it. David Price is the undefeated champion of the world in sparring fights. Left that bodybuilder Joshua in a crumpled heap apparently, Dubois also. Deontay's had his fair share of freeloaders, trying to join the bomb squad by taking it all serious. The bronze bomber got bigger fish to fry than this chump.

Don’t understand all these sparring stories , they drive me mad. Remember Groves admitted Eubank had good success against him in sparring , he was probably knackered after doing a session or whatever and Eubank has a good work rate doesn’t he. Then look how that fight went...

I’m young and have had boxing experience, I bet if I sparred a pro fight at the end of his training session on a off day I’d have success. Fights are completely different.

most champions/titlists are better than wilder, but I guess both these guys are in the same kind of bracket.

True, but in actual fights he doesnt look very impressive as well. His best wins are Stevern and old ass Ortiz...
