This kid is going places. :deal He was born in Horlivka, Ukraine but is now based in Brooklyn, NY and managed by Al Haymon. (though yet to sign officially with a major promoter, still a free agent, though he did sign what seems to have been a probationary co-promotional agreement with Lou DiBella and his colleague Max Alperovich) He was flawless in WSB, going 5-0 for the Otamans transitioning from amateurs to pros (for which his style always lent itself, although he was extremely accomplished in the Ukrainian amateur scene - racking up a 270-32 record and five-time national champion) in the semipros. He isn't the only young, tall, powerful southpaw in his division (Erickson Lubin and Demetrius Andrade being his foremost competition) but he does have a take-no-prisoners attitude that may help distinguish him as he steps up in class and improves...which is an ongoing process traceable in each new outing. He isn't with Fight Promotions anymore? Ya i like Golub he's not very heralded and a bit of a dark horse prospect but he's legit. Physically he doesn't look very impressive so you wouldn't think he's too athletic but h surprisingly is particularly his handspeed, very strong, tough as nails, excellent combinations and body punching. Turned pro at MW and fought there as an amateur but i suspect he dropped to 154 since Khytrov and Derevyanchenko are already there. Then again Spyrko and Shelestyuk are at 154 so now there's three Ukrainians in his new weight division too. Against Gausha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-BQQEvhQ4w
He might still be with DBE & FP, but not under an exclusive arrangement since they loaned him out to King's Promotions last month. :conf Yeah, definitely, cuts an unimposing figure but once he gets it going he's a berserker. Actually he technically has never made the junior middleweight limit, although he's rated there. ...but yeah, makes sense he would be looking to get out from under Khytrov's shadow, as they'd be occupying the same niche at MW.
P.S. Why do you have his nickname as Volk with that German letter ö? In German Volk has to do with the concept of an Aryan Race, in Russian in means Wolf. May want to change that.
:conf I don't know, I think the Volk sounds pretty ****ing cool. Nazis were flaming piece of **** scumbags but they had a way with names.:yep
Strangely, nothing turns up on internet translators for "Volk" in either Russian or Ukrainian. (at least not in Roman alphabet; if you transliterate into Cyrillic, волк, it does translate) When you type "Volk" into Google Translate and hit 'auto detect language' the first that pops up is Afrikaans. ...but yeah, "Völk" means people in both German & Dutch (and their derivative tongues) but, much like the Indian swastika and the phrase "Aryan race" (which actually refers to proto- Iranians) , was corrupted by the Nazi regime to mean something else. So for instance, Völkswagen just means "People's Car" (but of course that manufacturing company has its own sordid past, full of NDSAP ties, which don't bear getting into) I thought "Folk" was a strange nickname. Wolf is much cooler. ...and, come to reflect, "Volk" does sound pretty similar phonetically to "Wilk" (Polish for Wolf, as some may remember Piotr Wilczewski's nickname)
A Volk is means not aryan race. It describes the population of a country. The Germans, The French, The Russians, The Americans. Thats a "Volk". It is a normal word and has nothing to do with Nazis. On Topic: Golub looks very good. Nice Body punches, a lot of power and good skills. They should build him up faster.
