You can try cable crossovers when you have finished doing your bench presses. Focus on the contractions and keep it light (it can be a little rough on the shoulder). Personally I do dumbbell press, incline dumbbell press and decline dumbbell press but that maybe more aesthetic then boxing specific.

If were talking Boxing here, the pecs stabalises the arms and back while punching. A lot of times the pec tendons tighten up, and have to be stretched. Over a prriod of time it will affect the rotators. stretching is the best way, correction by manipulation hurts like f**k :yep

Scrap, you seem pretty knowledgeable of the dynamics of stretching as it relates to strength and kinesiology. I was wondering if there are any useful routines or programs that you recommend.

Books, articles, journals, or anything that could point me towards enlightenment. Thanks.

Ive been very fortunate, as regards the people I have known. In 89 I met a guy who was an insperation, to a guy who wanted to learn biomechanics. He had just come back from America, He was the head lecturer for 9 years at Harvard, when He talked I listened. :yep. The best bit of advice He gave me, You have the best book in the world in yourself, understand it understand why, Feel it understand what makes a Joint move which muscle operates what and why. Understand the Senses, and the Operations Room the Head which Orchestrates movement and alinement of your structure to beat Gravity. I thought F**k that for a game of Marbells :rofl.

    Scrap,

I got your PM, but I cant reply because I have less then the required 50 posts. Guess I need to mouth off more.

Thanks for the recommendations. 23. I am a scientist by education and trade (environmental), with an interest in maximizing my personal physical efficiency. Stretching has always been my least favorite form of physical exertion. There is plenty of room for improvement in my range of motion and hopefully overall strength.

bodybuilding has no place in boxing 90% of the time.

If you are training properly you will not exhaust any muscles in weight exercises.
    You will perform compund lifts.
    You will use free weights.

If you feel that your chest isn't doing enough work on the bench you're wrong. A compound lift uses the muscles in the proportions that are necessary to lift the weight, it wouldn't go anywhere if all of the necessary muscles weren't working.

That being said.. weighted dips are probably better for fighters than bench pressing in my experience. Dips concentrate more weight on the shoulders and triceps as opposed to the chest and triceps on the bench press.
