i dislike calzaghe but only because he was really arrogant post retirement.

by far he has the best SMW resume of all time. dunno whose fault it is or isnt, but there are gaps on his resume

ottke, beyer, toney, rjj, johnson, tarver

whoever is to blame for these fights not happening, it is irrelevent because tey didnt happen. and because of that his resume is a little shallow in terms of ATG quality.

he may well have beaten these fighters, he may have lost. but they should have happened

I think Joe did have the best record in the division's history but it is the SMW division! the great fighters had fought in the MW and LHW divisions. Some used it as a transitional stop at best.

did I not say the division has gotten better . . . currently the smw division is drawing all the talent away from the middles and LH. I did give your boy credit for helping to legitimize the weight class but historically it has been the shits. Man if you want someone to care go talk to one of your mates at the pub. As you can tell you will get very little love on here . . .NOBODY cares about Joe![/quote]

You correct sir. No one cares. The super6 tourney is by far the biggest thing to ever happen in this unnecessary division. There is a reason there are not 100 threads a day about cruiser weights. The same reason the SMW division is lightly regarded. If Joe is the best SMW of all time then that is one more reason to **** can the entire division.

Not my boy. I said hes been lucky. But how is the division better. It has an interest because of the super 6 but its no different.
Dirrell, AA as a SMW, & Green have accomplished less than M Veit another fighter Joe got lucky to beat who tripped on his laces as Joe threw a shot and had thought the bell had rung when it landed. Kessler got beat by lucky Joe and he was considered the top man before Ward butted him for victory, Bute has done less than B Mitchell who was about to come off the ropes and beat lucky Joe. So hows it got better?

He got lucky but at least know the facts
Ottke and Beyer wouldnt fight him, Toney (what are you talking about?) was a CW before Joe won his first SMW title and Toney and Jones were at HW around the time Joe got lucky and beat Mitchell, Johnson got beat by Sheika who Calzaghe beat with a lucky head butt (Sheika said), and when Joe was ringside with a view to make a fight with Johnson, Johnson lost again and blew his chance, Why would he fight Tarver? He beat Hopkins who beat Tarver easily, but then Hopkins did have a thyroid problem which possibly caused the loss. Lucky

Mitchell was a shot fighter and was never anything special to begin with. Mitchell in not one of the best 500 fighters in the history of US boxing. This tourney is heads and tails better than anything else that has ever happened in this division. Joe never once fought three fights in a row as difficult as any three fighters he would face in this tourney. Veit is nothing special, never one on the top 100 active fighters at any time in his career. There is no one in this tourney that would lose to Veit or Mitchell, Not even Froch who is headed to palookaville in the next twelve months.

I've had it with all these Calzaghe threads. You harp on and on and do yourself and him no favors. Either people are going to like him or they're not, you're not changing anyone's mind by being a turd.

If you really want to change someone's mind, showcase his talents by posting his videos. Oh wait, no one wants to watch his shitty style, no matter how effective it is.

I bet you consider Jones & Toney greats and they were in the division for some time, making defences and other MW champs also went up to SMW to continue their careers.
    What rubbish

    :patsch Think Robert think

Give me a break. Sheika? Sheika is a bum. I don't care who he beat. Beating Sheika and Johnson are not the same ****ing thing pal. Tarver would have decapitated Joe if they fought before Tarver was 40.

Sheika is a bum and he beat Johnson just like Hopkins and Ottke did and Vanderpool who got beat by Lacy, and Johnson got beat by Tarver who was soundly beaten by Hopkins and who was losing to fighters like Johnson and Harding himself. Joe beat Hopkins who beat them. Think Robert think
