I saw that too. The sad thing is they have all those great classic fights from decades back they bought from Bill Cayton I think. Just acres of stuff, and they air THIS. Pathetic. They used to show some good fights like Duran-Dejesus II (great, great fight), Saad-Muhammad-Johnson II, Saad Muhammad-Lopez II, Rossman-Galindez I, all kinds of good stuff. They never show them any more.
I know! Drives me nuts. Why on earth would they air that crap when they have the largest collection of classic fights known to man? I'm sick of the Ali/Tyson/Frasier/Foreman nights but BUTTERBEAN?! Ergh! :fire
For this reason, I will not ever consider a subscription to ESPN Classic, nor will any of my relatives, friends and acquaintances who are fans of the sport. The rest of ESPN is garbage, and this comes from somebody whose sister once worked for them in Bristol. ESPN sucks! What's next? Danny Bonaduce/Donny Osmond? Tonya Harding/Paula Jones? Darva Conger/Olga Korbut? Manute Bol/Refrigerator Perry? They can make it up to me by restoring and airing the complete 15 round footage of Greb/Walker and Greb/Tunney I & II.
Come on now, Butterbean was a classic, His fights, king of the 4 rounders ete. Did bring in people to the sport when it needed it I think. Dont be too hard on espn classic for a Butterbean running. He was one of the highlights in the late 90's. Now the thing that gets me is they seem to repeat fights over and over. It seems today on Sunday its other round of Ali Foreman.
I've been watching ESPN Classic for years now....it was great...THEN!! Marciano...Louis...Dempsey....Robinson....now..it's Poker...Poker...Poker...or Ali(again)...Tyson(again)...ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ESPN Classic over here is a joke, the same fights and programmes repeated over and over again, I've given up checking the listings, I use YouTube if I wanna watch classic stuff
ESPN Classics suck now. I've seen Ali-Foreman, Ali-Folley, and Ali-Williams too many times now, and I'm sick of Mike Tyson's greatest hits, and Evander Holyfield vs Bert Cooper and Michael Dokes.
What's ashame is that ESPN Classic has one of the largest fight collections from what I've read. But they continually play the same fights over and over. I'd love to see them switch it up...is that too much to ask?
