Cotto hooked Clottey, spun him, had spatial awareness, had his body physically locked and tied with Clottey's, looked at the back of Clottey's head, and fired. No chance it wasn't intentional, it had to be, but it was a light grazing shot, and Clottey overdid the reaction to outrageous extent. Mercante Jr. was not impressed.
That's one point. But the other is that Cotto then sized him up for a punch to the back of the head. That's what really put it over the line for me. The low blow later in the round was just icing on the cake.
:good You da man, San Raffi! Dinamita -- I agree. And you're right: Pac owns Cotto (well, if Pac can take Cotto's shots, that is).
They weren't premedatated and, were it not for Clottey making such a fuss over them, you wouldn't have noticed it. Clottey was desperate for a DQ win or a point deduction. Maybe if he'd actually tried winning the fight the conventional way he'd have got the decision.
It was premeditated -- that's what San Rafael just pointed out. You might not think the low blow was intentional. I disagree, and Zab Judah might agree with me.
This forum can be a joke at times. Every week after a big fight ends somebody was cheating, got a gift decision, should have been disqualified, was exposed etc....
When my girl does it to me, its sounds more like "mwmph..(slurp)...(slurp)," but whatever works for you and Blow-Up Miguel, I won't argue.
I knew what you meant, I just took it where I wanted to. You should know I'm not going to miss something like that.
how could you of lost all respect for a man that got a nasty headbutt early, had blood pouring in his eye the whole fight and was up against a tough, tough fighter who seemed to have his number...... but still manage to win through heart, determination and pure drive? how?
