    exaggerated*

Anyways, why do you feel he's overrated? His top 4 wins are the best top 4 in the history of the sport.

Ray Leonard could be ranked in the Top 10 greatest fighters of all time without many arguments...

His heart and will puts him above RJJ IMHO I wont even consider the resume as a base for comp. Lets not forget that he missed some nice years with teh eye injury and picked the greatest fighter at the time for a comeback.

As far as natural talents, Id say equal. Roy an edge in handspeed. powers about the same (slightly adv Roy) but man Ive never seen faster handspeed as far a powershots than Ray (see the kalule fight). Ray has an edge on chin..even at his advance age it held up better...

Merchant always exaggerate but yes SRL is greater..not by a mile but there is no doubt

If Jones goes out and beats Calzaghe, Glen Johnson, and the winner of Dawson/Tarver, I will have him in the top10 greatest of all time, easily.

The chances of that happening are about as likely as me beating Jones.

not the point. Simply stating what accomplishments would put him in there.

I don't think it can happen, but if he can get the fights lined up then its possible.

Here's the problem with Jones as I see it - he never, ever had to dig and pulled it off. You never saw him up against a brick wall which he was able to crash through. What Leonard against Hearns is something Roy could only dream off.

He had his chances of course, against Johnson and Tarver but there was no coming back from those shots for him.

I disagree with those who say that Roy "didn't have the chance" to take on better competition. Jones wasn't interested in giving up more than around 20% to his opponents - hence, no Hopkins too. It also might help to explain why he never fought Eubank or Benn, who both might have stretchted him, or that German/Pole who's name I can't spell.

Add these names, plus Hopkins 2 and Toney 2 at 175 and you have a cracking resume, and probably, somewhere along the line, a younger Roy Jones digs his way out.

I have Leonard at 14 all time, Jones at 21, I think.

its funny that you say that cause in Jones vs Tarver I he did exactly that. Had his back against the wall, dug deep, and won.

  14. Jones is not gonna beat Calzaghe:-(

So Jones never dug deep ? I could of swore that the first fight with Tarver was the fight he fought his heart out !! Most people did but you didn't :huh And Benn and Eubank are you serious ??Please tell me as to when they were going to fight and and what weight ???

Jones did not have the luxary of an opponent pool of a Leonard lets not put Ben and Eubank on that level and the fights with Hopkins and Toney did more than enough to give him credibility !

And before you blame Jones for the rematch with Hopkins lets make sure you also bring up the 6 mil that Jones offererd Bernard after he beat Tito. That fight was never made due to both men not budging !
