I'm a pretty big fan of De La Hoya, both as a fighter and for general demeanour. He's always been a classy guy, perhaps too classy for some who prefer their fighters with broken noses and a tooth or two missing but you could never argue that the fella couldn't fight.

I'm am growing weary of his status as the sport's golden goose and the fact the search for his next opponent has taken on a life of its own. DeLaHoya doesn't, after all, hold a belt or even status as the people's champion of any particular division and yet he has the power to change the life of potential opponents through the contract they sign to face him and also the exposure a contest with DLH provides.

If the rumour of Paul Williams being the front runner is to be believed I think he's reneging on the unspoken contract he has with fans who pay for the PPV despite the absence of a credible form line or a world-title of even his own magazine.

For me, in the absence of Mayweather and with Hatton deemed uncompetitive, only Margarito or Pacman will ignite my interest and fulfil the fantasy match-up status DLH's fights need to adopt to warrant the attention they will be afforded.

Who do you want the most? Pacquiao or Margarito?

This is still far better than DLH/Pacquiao or DLH/Mora.

A WilliAms fight is a lot better than a Pacquaio fight or Mora or Hatton fight. This is more competitive. :deal

I'll say it again, DLH vs Cotto still makes a lot of sense to me!

I dont like the Williams fight it just doesn't excite me. I'm not say its without merit but if Oscar operates in this parallel realm funded by fans he needs to act on the weight of public opinion and in a poll, Williams would struggle to emerge above Winky, Mosley, Judah or Cotto let alone Margarito, Pacman or Hatton.

I think he should fight Margarito, but conversly I think Margarito should, for classic credibility's sake fight Clottey rather than Oscar. Not that I'd begrudge Margarito the pay-day if he ducked out on Clottey and took the Oscar fight.

I appreciate the Pacman fight could prove a mismatch on size and strength, but Roach's word encourage me and it has so many more intangibles. It reallt would pitch two greats reps together.

    If it's at 147, I think it's a fine little fight.

Williams is top 3 at welterweight (depending on where you rank him of course), young and not at a terrible height/weight disadvantage like some of his other targets.

He's also a lot more exciting than The Latin Ssssssssssssnake.

I take all the points on board and I concur the Williams fight is worthy on lots of levels it just doesn't have me crossing the days of on the calendar, Manny P would. It may prove misplaced excitement but it would be compelling viewing. I think I could live without witnessing the Williams contest.

Well I do admire him Real, but I wouldn't regard him as a hero as such. Well not in the way I do say Herol Graham or Barrera.

He won't fight Margarito so I guess his next fight will suck especially if its Mora.

Fair enough, however all this BS over money, Pac, not fighting a credible Welter or even Super Welter will ultimately effect his legacy and standing with fans everywhere......Pac-DLH belongs in a comic book for christsakes, he needs to fight a serious and credible opponent to make people give a **** about him. Don't buy the hype David, Pac-DLH is a bull**** fight from the ground up:yep
