Good picks Joe. Louis v schmeling, can still recall watching that first time. In fact think it was my first time seeing Louis in action. Kind of wet my appetite for him to see more of his stuff. Wow he was a beast in the ring that night. The punches in to him as he crouched near the ropes... U could almost feel them for him!

I watched it on closed-circuit at the Tucson Convention Center, and remember spending the first 30 seconds yelling for Spinks to stand and fight, dammit; then spending the last 30 seconds screaming for him to run, RUN, 'cuz I'd dropped $35 for my seat and saw an expensive evening coming to an early end. In those days, Tyson fights were a waste of money if you planned on an extended evening of boxing entertainment ...

Nunn-Kalambay has got to be one of the most "WTF?!" first round KOs

And I always loved the sound of it.

Technically Dempsey-Willard should have been a first round knockout but if I remember reading right, the rd was stopped 10 seconds early and Willard couldn't get up off of the canvas on his own. His corner had to help him back.

One of my faves to. That fight definitely wasn't supposed to end like that! I believe most predicted a boring, tactical situation where nunn gets a point s decision. So watching kalmbay just go flying back! Great stuff.

Ingo-Machen comes to mind. Through my dad I was a boxing fan at a young age (born 1953), but I was too young to know about this when it happened (Sept 58). Interesting that, at least it seems in retrospect, that their fight flew under the radar at that time, not realizing that Ingo was the real deal?!
