IYO, who else in heavy history could have destroyed frazier in 73?

Foreman absolutely destroyed frazier in 73, which other heavy, champ or contender could have done the same to frazier in 73? Lewis, tyson and dempsey could all ko opponents early on, could they do that to Joe? Tua, liston? I don't personally see many been able to lift frazier off his feet. Joe for his faults was a tough man with a massive heart to keep going when hurt, so I yo who could do it?

Lewis is definitely most likely. In fact it would be probably beneficial if he could stop Joe early on, a warmed up Joe moving in to the later rounds could give Lewis the fight of his life. It would be like mercer but a heck of a lot worse. Lewis would have to dig deep I think to beat frazier when he gets his thing going. Even that stage of frazier career he would give any fighter a fight from hell.

Lift him off his feet or just ko him early? Ko him early:

    Dempsey
    Louis
    Liston
Marciano had the power to ko Frazier early but I always envision a fight between these two as a longer beat down rather than a blow out.

When did Foreman's punch lift Frazier off his feet?

Lewis, Tyson, among modern heavies....Dempsey, Louis and Marciano...certainly Liston come to mind. Frazier was ripe for the taking in '73, and was nothing like the inspired, fired up fighting machine that he was in the FOTC.

Due to his lack of height, and his short reach, attrition batlles and beat downs were a necessity for Marciano, umless he was in position to land the perfect punch, like that right on JJW, which would have done the job on any heavyweight in history.....certainly on Frazier.

The 1973 Frazier whom already showed decline against Daniels and Stander, came in too heavy and according to Arthur Mercante (who was in the same hotel) says Frazier and his camp behaved like they were on holiday, that guy would IMO be surprised by a lot of in form champions

    Dempsey
    Lewis
    Liston
    Joe Louis
    Max Baer
    Ingo Johansson
    Marciano
    Bowe
    Holmes of the Marvis fight

All possess (on their best night) what it would take to destroy 1973 Joe Frazier. That version of Frazier had lost range. He could fight if you let him walk all the way up to you but a guy with top level power, top level accuracy on top of his game and prepared to war could meet him on his way in with power. It is my belief Frazier no longer had the vision to punch on the way in as he had before the Ali fight. He needed to be too close.

i'm a bit short of agreeing with choklab's post but i agree that that was a long way from 'prime' frazier

Frazier was shopworn in January 1973 against Foreman. After the FOTC in March '71...Frazier was never the same...he left everything he had in the ring that night against Ali.

Would have to be a powerful guy who does that. At that point while certainly not at his peak he was still strong, still dangerous and they would have had to do a foreman job on him early on. U didn't want frazier getting warmed up

If holmes struck fast as against marvis he could hurt him that s a possibility

Bonecrusher Smith who was trained by Joe Frazier and also fought Mike Tyson, said that Tyson would have beaten him early.

Tyson comes to mind. Possibly Liston as well. Lewis would drop some right hands in there early and he may catch Joe cold. Lennox could hit. Otherwise Lewis would box cautiously.
