Izu Ugonoh was looked at as a great talent, and one of the best prospects in the heavyweight division. Many people expected Izu to deal with Breazeale in quicker time than Joshua.

It has been 8 months now, and nothing can be heard from Izu. 8 months of inactivity for a young boxer that should be very active. His twitter has not been updated since his last fight.

Izu looks completely broken and mentally destroyed from his first loss. A lot like Inbragimov after Wlad beat him.

    Thoughts? Is he done?

Not sure on this,im thinking he's training with different guys now? But??? He was always the better talent than Parker in my eyes and had legit power punching. I say we will see him again.

Heres a May interview where he advises Parker not to overlook Razvan....

    Doubt he's finished.

The problem was Breazeale was far too big of a step up for him.

Breazeale is a top 10 guy (top 15 at worst).

Izu had been fighting guys who weren't even top 100.

What will probably happen is that he will get offered good money to fight another well credentialed fighter who will beat him.

What needs to happen is for someone to spend money to get him not quite so well credentialed fighters who he can beat & then steadily increase the quality of those opponents.

Seems like his loss is being a bit misrepresented here. He pretty much boxed and beat the **** out of Breazeale for most of the fight but went down every time he got hit back in return.

Seems to have a very high level of talent and will be able to outland a lot of guys but can't deal with much coming back, which is a problem.

I watched that breazeale fight. Honestly think hes got as good a chance as pretty much anyone of beating joshua. I know thats crazy bearing in mind joshua dealt with breazeale without too much trouble...and breazeale beat him. But styles do make fights his attributes could well cause joshua big problems.

Needs to develop a bit more first tho. Surprised no one really mentions the fight. I d give him more of a chance than pulev anyway. Guys like that tailor made for joshua.

Hope not... He's a blast to watch. Exciting glass cannon. Reminds me of a Herbie Hide.

I doubt he's finished. I remember reading some interview with him a while back where he said he will be back stronger. He's probably just been training his ass off. He needs to improve his conditioning, which is clearly what lost him the last fight.

What about Andy Ruiz JR? Not a word from him since being declared a porker by Parker a year ago.

This is why matchmaking is so important, especially in the heavyweight division. izu was fighting absolute scrubs and then jumped in with an extremely durable, hard hitting brawler who has massive heart. It was too big a step up without the necessary learning fights. Izu should have been fighting durable guys on the way up like Sherman Williams and people like that.

He can come again, but it often takes fighters a while to come back from their first lost. Hopefully he can regroup, but you never know plenty of fighters quit after their first pro loss and never come back.

Honestly he fought a stupid fight against Breazeale, slugging it out with him like that, played to Breazeale's strengths.

Yeah he's not fought either. As I said can take a while for fighters to mentally recover. Though Ruiz Jr could be having promotional issues his backers had almost given up on him due to his inability to get into half decent shape. So after a loss it wouldn't shock me if he's struggling to get his promoters to make a fight. But that's just speculation on my part.

Yes he should've, but those fights cost money & that money was spent on his stablemate, Parker.
