Tyron Zeuge vs. Armand Cullhaj, 10 rounds @ super middleweight

 

Zeuge is bossing Cullhaj around, shoving him outside from clinches and getting off quick flurries before draping himself over Cullhaj before he can mount anything.

Cullhaj is reduced to diving in with the right hand and getting matador-turned, skewered in the back of the head.

Zeuge is able to execute some fancy hands-down moves defensively, getting off couplets of slaps on either side of the face and then smoothly gliding outside with his chin pulled too far out for Cullhaj to reach with lunging rights thrown hastily in anger.

They just completed the seventh.

 

Round 8

Zeuge is stepping left and patting Cullhaj on either temple with long slaps thrown in quick succession. Zeuge is keeping his left arm down by his side and using his right hand lead in lieu of a jab, scoring on the face of Cullhaj even when he ducks and rolls and uses head movement on the way in. Zeuge starts a jab from a couple of paces off, fooling Cullhaj into thinking he is safely distanced and then ramming in with a flush right cross that saps him of equilibrium. Cullhaj goes down as Zeuge moves in with more straight flurries to chase him off the steadying ropes. Cullhaj bobs under Zeuge's jab and looks to grab or land body shots from outside, to no avail.

Round 9

Zeuge is finally exhaling a bit as he comes off his stool, finally looking to have shown a bit of humanity after keeping up a high pace all night, though he still only seems to have endured a light workout by looking at him. Cullhaj ducks and takes blind swipes overhead. Zeuge presses in and finds his face with a straight flurry off the jab. Cullhaj backs onto the ropes and Zeuge begins to slap him silly. Cullhaj ducks and moves but the ref intercepts him, seeing enough.

TKO9!!!

 

It has been five years (to a day, as of yesterday!) since Cullhaj was stopped.

Moderately impressive result for Zeuge, with a moderately impressive performance.

 

Way more versatile than Abraham - but also way less power.

If you mean in terms of being a German ticket-seller, however - you could be right. Zeuge has that kind of arrogant smile Germans excel at, plus a fairly exciting style and some proclivity towards showboating.

 

Honestly, the Albanian kid ain't terrible - he was pretty well shut down and clowned on by Zeuge but you could tell he knew how to fight a bit, even if he was never really allowed to show it.

This was his 2nd attempt on the WBC Youth title - maybe he will capture it eventually (since Zeuge will probably soon be moving on to bigger and better things) or even become a player in the Euro title hunt...a bubble contender for it at least.

When he starts to slow down again (this little renaissance of his in Stieglitz III and Sjekloca can't last forever; he was looking **** for years before that...), it would be fun if Abraham got fed to Zeuge to set him up with a belt.

Or, worst case scenario, Abraham would check the kid's chin for us!
