Mayweather easy. This would be more competive at 130 or 135. Chavez had a nice run at 140 but he was much better at 130 and 135.

You answered yer own question as to my thoughts on floyds chances & it's absolutly ****-all to do with liking or disliking:nono

Taylor was 2 seconds away from victory but as you say styles make fights & Floyd is no Meldrick Taylor & Meldrick got smashed to bits for his efforts:yep

So you recken that Floyd can stay in the pocket do you & engage Chavez or too leg it & make Chavez miss & then counter..nice & easy yeh:lol:

Whats floyd being a great fighter got to do with it, Meldrick was a great fighter & so was Rosario, you said yerself styles make fights & as far as i'am concerned Chavez will hunt down Floyd & smash to bits.

Floyd has'nt the power to keep Chavez off him & his speed of foot will be more than matched by Chavez's sublime footwork in keeping in range & always forcing the opponant to engage be it on front or back foot but engage you must as you'll have absolutly no choice & that leads down to one certain conclusion & that means you're going to get damaged & slowed down & then stopped.

Non stop attrition juxtaposed with incredible ring ability + brutal power will see Mayweather chopped down & stopped IMO.

Explain to me how yer think Floyds going to win this?:hey

judging by how floyd made castillo his ***** i'd say he has enough power to earn chavez's respect, arguably more than a lot of Taylor's pitty pat shots.

are you saying taylor is a greater fighter than mayweather? look, chavez could pull this off but i'm not betting on him here.

Chavez broke you down with body shots and then head punishment, he was also skilled. Floyd is a great defensive fighter but Castillo gave him a tough fight I had it neck and neck and Castillo was not as good as Chavez so a pressure fighter makes a difference. I like Chavez coming on in the latter half of the fight and closing the gap and slowing Floyd down with body shots

Castillo I was Floyd's lowpoint as a pro. Nobody else came close, so saying Chavez will win based on Castillo I is too simple.

But on the same token, saying Chavez would lose based on Whitaker equally as simple?? Although Castillo are simular is styles is somewhat correct. Maywrather & Whitaker are not even close. Mayweather can be hit, Whitaker was a great defensive fighter. Also Pernell was a Southpaw. very confusing for a fighter to adapt to. Mayweather could move and jab. But Chavez would put alot of pressure on. If Mayweather could survive the late rounds. he might get a close decision. Just not sure if he's that durable...

    In their first fight, really?

A lot of good arguments going both ways here. It's a toss up, I guess, if one were objective. At 135 I would go with Chavez with confidence, at 140 I would go with him, still, but with much less confidence. I just don't think Floyd has fought anyone as good as a prime Chavez (which admittedly was below 140). However, JCC has fought a couple guys in or near Mayweather's league. Again, not a vote of full confidence. Perhaps if Chavez had gotten to 140 earlier in his career. He was losing his intensity and perhaps even his reflexes by that time.

Floyd is all wrong for JCC. Mayweather decisions him at any weight.

Floyd with his reach and quickness would catch JCC coming in..Even Sweet Pea(who is not known as a power puncher) made JCC respect his punches. Floyd is just as strong if not stronger than Sweet Pea. Floyd by a decent margin.

I think Floyd outboxes Chavez and wins a UD. Similar to Taylor, but Floyd would not be banged up at all. Meldrick took punches to get close to use his speed. His fights with Meekins and McGirt he looked great, and still was busted up.

This would be a hard call, which camp would have the judges in their pocket?
