I dont think we see it as much as we should.....its an excellent tool. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwfcvVP957o&feature=player_embedded[/ame] Floyd uses it perfectly...anybody else know of anyone who uses it pretty effectively?
When I look for talent in up and coming Slick boxers. I look for the stick to the body. If a fighter has a good jab to the body, I think that shows speed and timing, and that the fighter is actively trying to set up something up top. Andre Ward, and Andre Dirrell are excellent jabbing to the body. I think its one of the best punches in boxing.
I like the first part of the video. Floyd feints as if he's going to shoot a jab to the head, Corrales believes the feint and prepares to counter with a right over the top, and Floyd lets him take a jab to the pit.
These guys can't tell whether Floyd is going to do the jab to the body or lead right if he bends his knees once he's established the jab down low.
good point...i happen to think his lead right is probaly his best punch for me. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc_EJ8O6D0E&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
Floyd has an excellent jab to the body, after his lead right its his best punch... he used it on Hatton really well and kept him at a distance with it
that plus his speed makes his lead right a terrific tool. If I remember correctly, a couple the left hook knock downs he got against Corrales were off of a feint jab to the body.
Floyds counter pull rigth hand is most his best punch. I think he uses the jab to the body early on to establish the right hand.
