I've seen guys who basically don't squat down at all and just bend at the waist to throw the low jab. Ive also seen guys who don't bend the waist at all and just bend the knees. Finally I've seen people who do a mix of both which do you guys think is the best way? or are there advantages to each type?

It should be similar to how you throw a regular jab, but with a change of levels. Moving just the waist leaves your head exposed, since your left arm's shoulder doesn't cover your chin. Just dipping the knees is alright, but if you move your waist along with them, you keep your body angled. It's also more natural to move both as you step with them, and when actually sparring, you're more likely to be stepping with your punches rather than hitting a stationary target with no movement. That's what I got from my experience, anyway.

i do it mostly when i counter opponents jab. i slip jab to right, bend in knees and give my jab to the body, all in one motion.

As a southpaw I never jab to the body. A left straight is much more effective

Watch how Bob Foster got low to jab at the much shorter Dick Tiger.

I squat down to counter the jab to my head, bending slightly at the waist leaves your face open to a right/left hook.

step in with the front foot with the jab this will take you under there jab ,,then push off the back foot with a straight right ,finish left hook

this works in sparring on the bag stand further away to allow for the step in :thumbsup
