How do you see this one going down?

Phillipou has kinda flown under the radar and accumulated a five fight win streak. Has shown serviceable TDD in the past, and his offence is almost entirely boxing oriented. Jacare's standup seems to be improving greatly with each outing, so I don't think he will be a fish out of water in there against Costa if he can't secure a takedown, but obviously his best shot at victory is on the mat working his BJJ. If he stays relentless and aggressive with his takedown attempts, and I think that he will find one eventually and probably earn himself submission victory. Costa is a solid fighter, but he is not outstanding in any area. Jacare has obviously outstanding BJJ, and has developed a striking game solid enough to fall back on if what should always be his plan A fails to work.

I like this fight as a UFC debut for Jacare.

This looks like a fight set up to solidify Jacare in the UFC.
As you said his stand up is improving and have improved to a point where he can actually amount to something on the feet and if it hits the ground its Jacare all day every day

    Good fight this actually!

IMHO it can go both ways, Phillippou does have TDD, his hands are very very crisp, JJ is obviously Jacare's thing. If Jacare cannot secure the take down I think Philippou may well knock him out, both are versatile, both are well seasoned as well as dynamic, this is a very good fight. Very big scalp for either man!

If im forced to predict a winner I'm saying Philippou by TKO late.

I read an article (I think on Bleacher Report) that named Jacare the most 'pillow-fisted fighter' in MMA. :think

    You'd disagree, right?

    Hurt Rockhold, too.

Aoki and Shields immediately come to mind as far as feather fistedness goes.

Dropping Rockhold was the first thing I thought about. Idk man. Everything Jacare does is powerful.

Shields is probably for sure number 1.
How about Bisping, Maia, Roger Gracie, Mayhem is downright painful to watch punch.

Although Mayhem Miller did give a pretty good ass whooping to Kevin James. He's just got caught. He was running away with that fight.
