If you wait until the Monday of fight week they will be listed on the seat filler sites & can save yourself a few quid

He's an even bigger idiot than I thought then. Fail to see what he gains from keeping his face out there, especially coming across as a bell-end. It's not like he's a newsworthy interview.

Previous Fights they've been walking around town handing tickets out on the day just to fill tiers.

Top tier completely closed (didn't even notice it had a top tier, not a massive venue). Looks like another small hall size crowd in an arena. Seat filler sites on standby for the giveaways.

Why not just hold these in a packed smaller venue and generate a decent atmosphere. Instead it looks like being another sparse spread out crowd

This is funny as Hearn calls any other promoter in the country a small hall one.

This event really needed a strong card to give it a chance. Hatton vs TBA announced amongst other similar fights. The backlash on social media isn't positive at all.

Just feels like putting on a card for the sake of it here, especially with it clashing with Buatsi Azeez.

Why not just merge the better fights of Sep 30th with this and make 1 good card rather than 2 that will generate next to know Intrest

The main event is poor but I am looking forward to the undercard. I reckon Bellotti beats Fiaz. McGrail's opponent is a natural super-bantamweight and is 17-0. Masoud's opponent has only been stopped by Mauricio Lara and Emmanuel Navarette. I also think that Khaleel Majid against Tom Farrell is a fun fight.
It's one of Matchroom's weakest UK main events. Considering they are putting on Opetaia vs Thompson, Wood vs Warrington, Cameron vs Taylor II and McCormack vs Ritson, I won't complain too much. Remember that the plan was always Prograis vs Catterall for this date until Devin Haney became a possible opponent. Still doesn't excuse picking Linares though.

I personally will watch the Sky show. Chamberlain vs Lawal and Buatsi vs Azeez is a great double-header. I'll probably tune in for the Matchroom show earlier on though.

Matchroom's shows in the US and Mexico though are upper-echelon though in my opinion, especially if what I have heard will be announced. Combining that with the Golden Boy shows, Jake Paul shows, and MisFits, it's definitely the best boxing schedule on any platform.

Prograis was never ever fighting Catterall mate, especially not in England. Catterall will need to get into a mandatory position because nobody is giving him a voluntary shot - horrible style and isn’t a big name.

Probably get called a hater or anti-Matchroom or whatever but Matchroom’s schedule is crap IMO. Fair enough getting Opetaia over but nobody has heard of him and they haven’t heard of Thompson either. It will do 20-30k views in the UK tops.

Matchroom need to just concentrate on one market rather than trying to have a finger in every pie. It’s alright being the ‘only global promoter’ (which they’re not but let Hearn believe that) but it’s pointless if you’re not conquering any market. Just concentrate on one country rather than putting on average shows in several. Right now their UK stuff is a much of muchness and in America Top Rank are still comfortably the best. PBC have had a better year too.

They should have put Catterall on the Opetaia vs Thompson card as it will likely be in Manchester. They could have done that on October 21 and made September 30 a show in Liverpool with Callum Smith headlining in an easy, interim fight before facing Beterbiev. However, I do empathise with Matchroom here as Beterbiev only recently pulled out of fighting Smith and the plan was for Opetaia to face Rhiakporhe in Australia.

Opetaia vs Thompson is still a World Title fight though and a good fight to add to the schedule. Let's see what it is on the undercard. The US shows they have announced so far are good - Edwards vs Rodriguez is great and Diego Pacheco looks like he's one of the future stars in the US. They need to make sure they get Haney vs Prograis over the line even if it is on PPV. They also have won the purse bids for Foster vs Rocky Hernandez. Apparently Berlanga will be in a big fight too.

I'd argue Matchroom have done better than PBC in the US if you discount PPV shows. PBC are putting on Benavidez vs Andrade on PPV for example.

The Monaco show headlined by Cordina and featuring another male world title fight will be announced soon. I have heard that they want Conor Benn to fight on September 23 or September 30 and then face Brook on December 16 on PPV.

So I don't agree with you that Matchroom's schedule is bad like you said. I wouldn't say it's been amazing, but it's been pretty good. Remember that Boxxer and Queensberry have been headlining shows with fights like Bellotti vs Fiaz which are on the undercard of Matchroom shows.

Unpopular opinion but they should use Bivol's last fight on the contract against John Ryder in the UK.

Wood vs Warrington, Cameron vs Taylor II and McCormack vs Ritson are three strong main events that will appeal to the causal fan base. Opetaia vs Thompson is a good main event that will appeal more to the hardcore fan.

They've also had Joshua as part of the subscription twice this year which is a huge coup for them. However, I do worry a little for Matchroom for 2024 if Joshua vs Wilder doesn't get made, and if Prograis loses to Haney. They must be hoping that Prograis beats Haney which I can see happening.
