I love the scene where Nucky's clueless moll walks through the room as Nucky is talking with someone and says "You really tore me up last night Nuck."

Steve Buscemi (Nucky)'s expression and reply is priceless: "Jesus!"

I'm a loyal viewer of the show, but I admit to finding the relationship between Nucky (Steve Buscemi) and "Miss Shroder" (Kelly McDonald) quite tedious for the most part.
The slutty moll klompton refers to is far more interesting.

Also, agree with klompton, the WW1 vet with blown-off face is a class act. Jimmy and him, as well as depictions of real life gangster legends such as Capone, Luciano, Lansky, Rothstein etc. really make the show.
Chalky, the black gangster played by the guy who did "Omar" in The Wire, is coming into his own in season 2 (I've seen 2 episodes of S2) too.
The puritanical christian fundamentalist Federal Bureau agent character is the darkest character in it so far. Somewhat scary.

Yes, Abe Attell was mentioned once or twice, in a conversation between Rothstein and his lawyer in season 1, regarding the fixed world series allegations.

Jack Dempsey was also mentioned in season 1 by Jimmy, to his wife, as he was reading the paper and noticed headlines about Dempsey's failure to join up for war in Europe. Jimmy correctly (IMO) surmised that Dempsey would have been mad to throw away his career and his shot at riches to go to war, and that the "sole provider for family" was the cooked up excuse, and a secondary reason at best.

I haven't started season 2 yet but Jimmy and the Tinman are ****ing awesome. The exception being Jimmy taking back his ******, *****, kidnapper of a wife, that's how it seemed at the end of season 1. I hope he buries her in a hole.

    season 3 finale spoilers below...

Jimmy Darmody was my dude, although it's looking like he's gonna turn against Nucky this season, all because of his senile old ******* of a father. But yeah, best show on TV.

Spenser For Hire remains my favorite series. After that, the Sopranos had me hooked, then Rome. Now, Boardwalk Empire. Beautifully done, and they really are striving for authenticity.

"Dempsey" is sure as hell more passable than "Capone" -who is no taller than a Lollypop Kid from the Wizard of Oz.

It's my favourite TV series until Games of Thrones comes back. :good
And that's strange, because I'm usually far more of a 1920s/historical/gangster film admirer than I am a fan of swords and sorcery fantasy fiction.

I don't watch an awful lot of series' though. There are a few highly-rated ones I've yet to check out.

I don't think a physical resemblance is all that important, as long as the actor portrays the character in a believable manner. I doubt we will see much of Dempsey in the show though.

Have ya watched Breaking Bad before?

I'd say it's the best television show since the Wire ended a couple of years ago.

Did anyone catch his high-pitched voice? That was a touch of the authentic as well.

Probably not, but it sounds like he'll be popping up once or twice. I think it would be cool if they showed his fight with Carpentier. With the shows attention to detail and authenticity that could be very interesting to watch.
