Holy ****, I'm hooked on Breaking Bad. It just happened earlier today. I'm near the end of season one.

I don't think it's going to be that cut-and-dry. Season two is yielding interesting developments.

At night, I become a reader of books. I try really, really hard to leave the boob tube off and turn my ears off to suggestions to watch this or that. Boardwalk Empire got me from the beginning though. I'm pretty well-read in the era and know all there is too know about the Outfit and what later became Cosa Nostra. I'm actually planning on making an extra room in this here condo into a study -1920s style.

"Spenser for Hire," man. That stands as my all-time favorite and it disgusts me that the series hasn't been released on dvd.

The clips here represent it well. But for great dialogue, it's tough to beat the point from 4:27:

Soooooo i'm guessing that 89 isn't your birth year, either that or your Dad had every episode on VHS or something?

    Nobody likes Dexter?

My father was, happily, long gone by '89 and I was a teenage hoodlum. As a matter of fact, I got into the series late -and only because I was laid out for a few days after a rumble gone bad. I watched it with one eye -the other looked like Carmen Basilio's with pus coming out of both ends of a grapefruit. Happy days! Uh, yeah.

Give it a chance, it's a pretty decent show. I ignored it for quite a while but I'm glad I gave it an honest shot.

Yeah, by the sounds of this thread I should give it another chance. I didn't give it the best chance at first, but Max says it starts slow so maybe that's why I turned off to it too quickly. It's weird, because I'm huge fan of gangster genre movies too.

I couldn't get into the Wire (I'm gonna hire out all of series 1 and try again) but Breaking Bad is the best show I've seen since The Sopranos ended. I'm watching series 4 at the moment ( I'm up to episode 12) and I have to say, without knowing how this season ends yet, that it just keeps getting better and better.

I admire your taste Sir :good

Both shows are awesome. Love the attention to detail and historical aura and feel of Boardwalk Empire, and as a long time fan of the books, the Game of Thrones series has been better than I dared to hope for.

You have to be a long time fan of the books, Martin only releases one every decade or so. Its frustrating. Im dying to know what happened to Stannis and Jon. Martin has a nasty habit of killing off my favorite characters.

A Song of Ice and Fire is incredible. You know Jon's not dead though. If there's a protagonist to the story, he's it, and ending a book like that just seems strange. Aegon was a great twist though, brought something to the series i think it's been missing for a while.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So why did you kill Jon Snow?
GEORGE R.R. MARTIN: Oh, you think he’s dead, do you?

typical. I hope he actually completes the series so bad. I'd hate for this one to get...Robert Jordan'd....
