Have you ever heard of Harry Greb? Man, take this to the classic forum and get laughed out of there. Dempsey wouldn't even fight Greb, a middleweight, who called him out even before he was heavyweight champion. Greb handed Dempsey's ass to him in sparring. Look it up and please educate yourself before you leave insane posts like this in the future.

How can a man be the greatest white fighter of all time if he ducked all the black guys? Everyone gives Dempsey and Tunney a pass on this, but the white guys had the power to make these fights happen. They didn't happen because these white "champions" didn't want them to happen. I don't even recognise Dempsey as a champion.

Marciano, anyone? There's a guy who fought all the best, regardless of skin color. That's what "champion" means.

 

Even if you class Dempsey as "white", he wouldn't even crack the top 5 of that list.

Harry Greb should be #1 imo. He, Pep, Leonard and Walker are all in my P4P Top 10 - and there's a lot of daylight between them and Dempsey on my list.

Gene Tunney did beat Dempsey twice. Come to think of it, Tunney isn't mentioned nearly enough here at ESB. He had an awesome style & an excellent jab.
