6ft1 and 185 lbs Dempsey destroyed the 6ft6 240 lbs Jess Williard.

Dempsey would KO many modern superheavyweights too, that are actually much worse than the Williard. This proves you don't have to be big to beat superheavyweight. Joshua seems to have problems against small quick guys and could lose to Jack Dempsey.

Big influence on Tyson, who also rendered big men defenceless by ducking and rolling to fight inside. You'd have to think Joshua wouldn't take the kind of beating Willard did. Too athletic and powerful. It is the kind of style that might have won Parker the fight - or got him knocked out, but I'd be surprised if you can suddenly develop that skill and confidence for a specific opponent.

Dempsey was all action like his protege Mike. Femi would be peppered with shots like a machine gun and would just have to cover up and hope he survived the barrage.

This. Parker's handspeed and combination punches were troubling Joshua and Parker isn't half the fighter Dempsey was. Parker is also feather fisted, but managed to keep Joshua honest.

    Jack Sharkey 6'0" 202lbs vs. Primo Carnera 6"5" 261 lbs 85" reach

Carnera was 48-3 at the time and had a better jab, better uppercut, and better stamina than Joshua, but was thoroughly outboxed and knocked down by Sharkey. Sharkey utilized lots of footwork and head movement to avoid and counter Carnera's jab with well timed body shots. He also wouldn't allow Carnera to plant his feet to setup his finish shots like his uppercuts. Jimmy Young and Ali did the same to Foreman many years later. Frazier stood in front of Foreman and let Foreman plant his feet and setup his uppercut time and time again and got destroyed for his trouble.

    Rematch:
Jack Sharkey 6'0" 200 lbs vs. Primo Carnera 6'5" 260 lbs 85" reach

In the rematch Carnera didn't give away as many free body shots and was a lot more mobile. Carnera also avoided taking Sharkey's left hook's and overhand rights flush and countered with body punches to slow Sharkey down and finished him with an uppercut.

    Parker 6'4" 236 lbs vs. Joshua 6'6" 243 lbs 83 inch reach

Parker when he utilized head movement and countered Joshua to the body Joshua's jab was completely neutralized, but in the later rounds Parker started gassing out and Joshua started to land his shots.

Also Willard was a good fighter when he was in shape, which was around 238-245.

Dempsey had loaded gloves (plaster of paris/concrete) when he fought Willard.
That's why Dempsey broke Willards cheekbones.
You can see the video and you'll see Dempsey struggling to throw his punches upwards, because his gloves where heavy, cause they were loaded.

It's all relative. His opponents weren't big either aside from Willard.

I am about 6-3 220, and if I go to a vintage clothing shop NOTHING fits. Guys my size were as rare as hen's teeth in the 1950s much less 1920s.

The thing that makes most great athletes "great" in their time by the way was their size advantage. Ali was 210 figting 190 lb. guys. Klistchko was 245 fighting 215 lb. guys. Wilt Chamberlin was 50 lbs. heavier than the guys he played against, Dick Butkus was 6-3 245 playing middle linebacker in the 60s. He was bigger than some of the linemen!

Jack Johnson was nicknamed the Galveston Giant even though he was only 6'0 and 200 lbs. He was a giant for his time.

With respect a 6ft 1, 185lb fighter would really struggle with modern day super heavy weights...Its not so much the 6ft 1, its the 185lb..
Big super middles probably come in near that these days.

A 6'1, 185 lb fighter would struggle with cruiserweights, never mind super heavyweights.
