Nice post. Thanks for posting it. When initially saw the thread title, thought that Dempsey was calling from the grave...saying that ESB sucks!

 

Perhaps because the rubes commenting on the relatively new sport of MDQ boxing most often didn't know what they were commenting on. Yet some still take their word for gold today.

 

And it's still the same today.
Most said Wlad would beat Fury, for example.

 

It takes a lot for a grown man to put serious money behind a prize fighter, in any era.

These people weren't as naive as we may think.
